New Delhi: IIT Delhi, Department of Chemistry and HORIBA India have collaborated and come up with a research centre to strengthen the industry-academia partnership bond for joint research purposes.
The IIT Delhi HORIBA Centre includes a Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzer (LA 960 that measures the size of particles in the range of 10nm-500um. The centre will be further expanded with a dynamic light scattering nano-particle size analyzer and environmental science analytical techniques in the due course of time.

Particle size has a significant effect on material properties such as taste, texture, solubility and appearance. Moreover, this is also a valuable indicator of quality as well as performance.
The LA-960 System can analyse both wet and dry products and provide accurate number-based particle size distribution, vital information required in several research and quality control applications.
The size determines the glossiness of paint, the flavour of cocoa powder, the reflectivity of highway paint, hydration rate, the strength of cement and so on.
