New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi has cut the cost for MTech, and other postgraduate programs, based on the committee's recommendations to investigate MTech students' complaints over the tuition increase.

IIT Delhi announced in an official statement that the cost had been decreased for new PG students who enrolled in the second semester of 2021-22 or after. The tuition fee and other costs have been cut significantly as part of the fee deduction at IIT Delhi, according to a statement from the institution.
According to IIT Delhi, "The tuition fee for full-time MTech students has decreased from Rs 25,000 per semester to Rs 17,500 per semester. Similarly, tuition fee for other postgraduate programs has decreased as well. In addition to the tuition charge, other fee components have also been reduced."
The Institute stated earlier today that they are awaiting the IIT Delhi Board's approval of the committee's report on the issue. The Institute appointed a committee investigating MTech students' tuition fee review requests. The Institute stated that the Board established the current charge in January 2022.
On August 31, 2022, IIT Delhi MTech students staged a quiet sit-in protest against a 150 percent fee increase. Students urged an immediate reversal of the fee increase.
According to the protesting students, the entire academic fee for full-time MTech students accepted this semester 2022-2023 has increased by 100 percent, from Rs 26,450 to Rs 53,100 (excluding accommodation expenses). "Within this sum, the 'tuition charge' has been increased by 150 percent, from Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 every semester," it claimed.
