Despite the immense hurdles provided by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIM-Vizag) has concluded its final placement season for the Batch of 2020-22 with 100% offers for the sixth year in a row.

IIM Vizag also set a new record for the largest average package, with INR 14.6 lakhs per annum (16 percent more than the previous year) and an average of INR 15 LPA (25 percent from last year). The highest pay package was INR 23.5 LPA, a 13 percent increase over the previous season.

IIM Vizаg Placement 2022: Highlights

Prof M Chandrasekhar, Director of IIM-Visakhapatnam, stated that recruiters from across the sector confirmed their belief in the exceptional quality of IIM-V students. With the top 50% of students obtaining an average package of INR 16.7 LPA, the financial prospects available to students are cause for excitement (11 percent from last year).

"The top 25% received an average package of INR 18.07 LPA (up 5% from previous year) while the top 10% received an average package of 20.13 LPA (up 7% from last year). The Institute credits the unwavering support of its valued businesses, the effort and commitment of its Student Placement Committee, as well as the talent and passion of its students, for the success of this placement milestone."

The placement season, which was held on a rolling basis, saw over 75 organisations participate and 40+ new employers make several offers across a variety of sectors, including Consulting, Strategy, Finance, Product Management, Sales & Marketing, Human Resources, and Information jobs. 

This year, the banking, financial services, and insurance industries (31%) invested heavily in fresh talent, followed by IT/ITES (26%), Consulting (25%), E-Commerce (7%), Manufacturing (5%), and FMCG (3%). Other industries, such as Health, Construction, Digital Media, and Education, Account for 3% of all jobs.

Technology and analytics, among other things "Despite the hurdles given by the epidemic, there has been a big increase in the number of firms ready to work with the institute, which is an indicator that it has achieved rapid progress," stated the IIM-Vizag Director.

Prof. Deepika Gupta, Chairperson, Career Development Services and Alumni Relations, expressed her gratitude to all recruiters who had put their trust in the students. "As the economy gradually improves, new and interesting opportunities are emerging in a variety of fields." 

"It gives me extra joy to see the 2020-22 batch overcome the pandemic's headwinds in terms of learning, unlearning, and relearning things, and fast adapting to the new normal," Prof Deepika Gupta said. He added, "Students learned the science and art of dealing with virtual academic sessions and placement processes."
