On August 4, 2020, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal, Union Education Minister, in the virtual presence of Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Anurag Singh Thakur and State Education Minister, Sanjay Dhotre laid the foundation for Indian Institute of Management, Sirmaur.
Foundation for this new establishment of IIM Sirmaur is laid down in 210 acres of land at Dhaula Kuan, Himachal Pradesh. As the official tweet goes, CPWD will construct camps at a tender cost of INR 285.66 Crores for civil works.

Phase-1 of the project will be completed by June 2020. The foundation ceremony for which was conducted in an online mode.

IIM Sirmaur:Temporary Campus at Paonta Sahib, Sirmaur
From 2015, IIM Lucknow has been the mentor institution for IIM Sirmaur. During this, the first batch of IIM Sirmaur continued classes from its temporary campus at Paonta Sahib, Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh.
Meanwhile, the permanent campus of IIM Sirmaur conceived a maximum student strength of 1170. The central government sanctioned INR 392.51 Crores out of INR 531.75 Cr.

IIM Sirmaur’s Success in imparting Management Education in India
At the foundation ceremony, Education Minister Mr Pokhriya added: “MBA students are future corporate leaders, wealth creators and responsibility lies heavily on their shoulders to provide the right direction to business and industry to make Atma-Nirbhar Bharat, as per the vision by our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji.
Education is the key to the task of Nation building. We need to promote research and innovation in our institutions and create an ecosystem of excellence.” He even assured that the Ministry of Eminence (MoE) has been in support of IIM Sirmaur to develop world-class infrastructure.
Meanwhile, IIM Sirmaur successfully completed final placements for its 2019 batch. The highest CTC reached 16 LPA with a 40% increase in recruiters’ participation.
The Chief Minister officially stated: “The current academic activity is operationalised from a temporary campus which is fully residential for students with all modern facilities. The students are not only pursuing academics but also engaged in various cultural, sporting and CSR and community outreach activities.”
While Mr Dhotre asserted within a period of five years from 2015 to 2020, IIM Sirmaur has witnessed an increase in students’ intake from just 20 to more than 300. “This speaks of the hard work put in by the management, director and the board to steer academic activity in the required direction,” he added.
