IIM Kashipur Collaborates with Scotland University to Organise Entrepreneurship Conference in India


New Delhi: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur has joined hands with the University Of Strathclyde Business School to bring together students, scholars, and entrepreneurs from both countries through an entrepreneurship conference.

As per IIM Kashipur , the MoU is signed with the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship at the University Of Strathclyde Business School to jointly organize an international conference in India for interested entrepreneurs and students of both universities. 

The conference will be organized by the Foundation for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development of IIM Kashipur from December 15 to December 18, 2022. The event will include discussions on the entrepreneurial ecosystem and impact of COVID-19 pandemic. 

Talking about the highlights of the entrepreneurship conference, Dr. Sreevas Sahasranamam of the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship said, "One of the key focus areas of this conference will be emerging trends in entrepreneurship within India".

“A study of entrepreneurs on the impact of COVID observed the rise of new trends such as digitalisation, multi-sector collaboration, the rise of social enterprises, and localization. It is important to understand the entrepreneur and policy implications of such emerging trends,” he said.

Adding to the statement, the Glasgow-based University of Strathclyde Business School stated that in order to grow the ecosystem, there is a need to understand the key pillars of entrepreneurial growth and its developing ecosystem. 

As per the 'Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2021/22 Report', India has been placed among the top five economies for ease of starting a new business. It further noted that a total of 83% of respondents believe that there are many good opportunities in India to start a business.

Referring to the report, Dr. Sreevas Sahasranamam said, “ The ‘Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2021/22 Report' noted that entrepreneurial intentions among the general population and growth expectations among entrepreneurs are still muted in India”.

“There is a need for cultural change around reducing the fear of failure amongst the general population, and support for scaling-up new ventures” he further added.
