New Delhi: IIM Jammu Executive Education collaborated with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) to organise a Leadership Development Programme for the ICSI members. The programme was held from April 14 to 15, 2022 at Srinagar, Off-Campus.

28 ICSI members, working in industries and actively in practice from all over India took part in the programme. Professor B S Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu and CS Devendra V Deshpande, President, ICSI, inaugurated the event.
The Programme Directors were Dr. Baljeet Singh, Assistant Professor, Marketing, CA Rajat Jain, Financial Advisor and Chief Accounts Officer (FACAO), IIM Jammu and CS Ashish Garg, Council Member, ICSI.
While speaking on this occasion, Director Sahay said that this was the first-ever leadership programme to be conducted at the IIM Jammu Srinagar Off-Campus.
“As you all know skills are an indispensable component, the programme will help the companies’ secretaries to develop their leadership and crisis management skills with an impetus to team building. It will also help them to embrace the transformational changes that technology and digitisation will bring”, as stated by Dr. Sahay.
Devendra V Deshpande also commented on the utility of this kind of leadership programme and how it is effective for the ICSI members as well.
“In a fast-changing world, company secretaries are increasingly assuming managerial responsibilities which demand enhanced understanding of other business functions including leadership & effective interpersonal and communication skills, skills in domains of marketing, strategy, change and crisis management and ability to analyse business ecosystem, the leadership programme will help to address and enhance the existing skillsets of the company secretaries”, as further commented by Mr. Deshpande.
The primary aim of this programme, as can be understood, is to further provide the company secretaries the required resources so that they can acquire sufficient knowledge of other functional areas.
This is to enhance their effectiveness in the managerial roles as well. Some of the broader areas focused under this leadership programme were Leadership and Communication, Change and Crisis Management and so on.
The programme began with the inaugural welcome note by Dr. Singh and the introduction of all the dignitaries by CA Rajat Jain. Professor Jabir Ali, Dr. Muqbil Burhan, Dr. Baljeet Singh, Dr. Barnali Chaudhary chaired this two-day programme. Participants had been issued a certificate of participation at the end of the programme.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Professor Jabir Ali, Professor, Economics and Business Environment, IIM Jammu.
