New Delhi: IIM Bangalore hosted its 47th Convocation Ceremony on its campus after a gap of two-long years. A total of 690 students across different programmes graduated with 9 students receiving gold medals.

IIM Bangalore has awarded degrees to 11 PhD students, 488 PGP students, 76 students from EPGPM, 75 from PGPEM, and a total of 40 students from PGPBA. This year, almost 9 students have won gold medals in various courses.
During the convocation ceremony, Zia J. Mody, Co-founder and Managing Partner of AZB and Partners was invited as the chief guest. He gave a virtual address to the graduating students and said that one lesson from the two years of the pandemic is that change is constant.
She even addressed the students by saying that they had to achieve academic success amidst the COVID-19 challenge, where they have weathered all storms and came out ahead succeeding. In addition, organisations are eagerly waiting to see more unicorns, more distinguished scholars, and more successful CEOs emerge from students enrolled in IIM Bangalore courses.
Further, she also advised the students to follow their calling and pursue their passion to become successful and to reject mediocrity. Stating that money, while important, was not the only determinant, she said that if they love something, they'll have to excel in it, and eventually the money will flow.
Speaking about work-life balance, Mody said that there is nothing like a perfect work/life balance. Everything gets measured by what an individual prioritises, and sometimes sacrifices, on the road to success. She also called upon the IIM-B students to give back to society by way of philanthropy.
Lauding the institute, Devi Prasad Shetty, chairperson, Board of Directors, IIM-B expressed his gratitude to all its stakeholders who had adapted in the face of the pandemic to sustain the excellent academic standards.
In his virtual address to the students, he told them to embrace change, not resist it and seize any opportunity that arises from a rapidly transitioning environment, and always try to change things for the better.
He also advised the students to never ever compromise on honesty or transparency and have a deep understanding of technological trends and their implications.
Highlighting some of the institute's achievements and accomplishments, Prof Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Director, IIM Bangalore, presented the institute's special focus on programmes, centres, events, the entrepreneurship hub NSRCEL, placements as well as the feats of the students and faculty.
IIM Bangalore has once again made its way to the Top 100 in the QS World University Rankings in the Business and Management Studies category, ranking at 63 globally and at 1 in India.
Expressing his delight, Shetty said that he's proud of the institute and that its scores on academic and research parameters are improving every year.
The QS ranking reflects IIM-B’s vision is to be a globally renowned academic institution fostering excellence in management, innovation and entrepreneurship, for business, government and society, he said.
IIM Bangalore’s New Campus to be Functional From Next Year
Shetty said that the institute's new campus may become functional next year, where the institute will offer UG programmes in multiple disciplines with a liberal arts flavour, in accordance with the National Education Policy, NEP 2020.
