IIM Ahmedabad Announces Two Major Projects With its Future Growth Plans

New Delhi: The IIM Ahmedabad Board of Governors has approved the reconstruction of some of the old campus, which is driven by the dual goals of ensuring the safety of on-campus residents and facilitating the expansion of the campus infrastructure as part of the institute's growth goals. The institute also shared the launch of a redesigned website along with a restyled logo.

Two significant projects have been announced by the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) in keeping with its long-term growth goals. The IIMA Board of Governors made two decisions that the institute shared, including approval for the reconstruction of some of the old campus and the launch of a redesigned website with a new logo. These decisions were made with the dual goals of ensuring the safety of residents on campus and facilitating the expansion of the campus infrastructure as part of the institute's growth objectives.

On behalf of the Board, Professor Errol D'Souza, Director of IIMA, provided information regarding these choices. Professor Hyokjin Kwak, IIMA Chair Professor and Professor of Marketing, and Professor Ajay Pandey, member of the IIMA Board of Governors, were also present at the event. They were also in charge of the Website Task Force.

"The institute saw the need to re-envision the IIMA website and renew its visual identity, which is symbolised by its logo, as IIMA and its ethos evolves and adapts to worldwide trends. The 'Simple, Bold, and Global' brand idea of IIMA is embodied in the new website. The updated logo was also finished after consultation with key stakeholders and consideration of their input. IIMA Board of Governors: "The updated design strives to emphasise a strong connection to Indian culture while maintaining all the components of the previous IIMA mark that inspire and channel trust, authenticity, and legacy.

Reconstruction of Old Buildings

The IIMA Board's second decision concerns the reconstruction of a few structures on the old campus. The Institute is proud of its historical roots and rich heritage, which include its iconic architecture and were all crucial to its development into a leading institution of international renown. The tenants of the campus are now concerned for their safety as a result of some of the buildings' structural degradation, deterioration, and uninhabitability over time. Nearly 40 years have passed since this topic first came up for discussion, and a lot of that time has been spent in comprehensive consultations and expert-led reports.

The first time the issue of the structures' degradation was brought up was at a Building Committee meeting in July 1982. Most significantly, the Board took into account all pertinent reports, particularly those that were completed during the previous year. This comprised conferences and talks given by two teams of specialists who were entrusted with evaluating the state and structural integrity of the buildings and who travelled to the campus to carry out an in-person investigation.

The institute has regularly inspected, studied, and repaired the structures over the past 20 years. When subject matter experts recommended it or there was any outward sign of a problem, repairs were undertaken. The Board decided that it was necessary to solve this problem rather than choose interim fixes like restorations, which had been tried but weren't as successful, because the safety of our personnel is our first priority. Before reaching this choice about the reconstruction of some of the old campus, the Board talked to professionals in the field and debated the matter for several months.

According to every report, the majority of structural components have a negligible remaining useful life, making rehabilitation technically impossible and ineffective even with a time, effort, and financial commitment. As a result, it is necessary to reconstruct certain areas of the old campus. We like to extend our sincere gratitude to the IIMA Board of Governors for their guidance and counsel throughout the process.
