IIM Ahmedabad Admission 2022: 33.5% Non-Engineer Students Enrolled in MBA Program


New Delhi: IIM Ahmedabad has recorded its all-time highest enrollment of 33.5% from non-engineer students for MBA batch of 2022-23. Applications have been received from students of various streams such as arts, science, and commerce.

As per IIM Ahmedabad, the highest ever enrollment of nonengineer students for MBA batch of this year is recorded at 35.5 percent. While for the 2021 session, the enrollment percentage stood at 27.5 percent and 24 percent was recorded for the batch of 2020-21 session. 

Talking about IIM Ahmedabad PGP Program 2022, the highest enrollments are recorded for the batch of 2022-24 sessions with 398 students, of which 33.5% are from non-engineer backgrounds and the remaining 66.5 percent of students have joined from engineering streams. 

While comparing the data with the previous year's enrollment, the IIM Ahmedabad batch of PGP batch of session 2021-23 sessions included a total of 393 students, which is the second-highest enrollment for the MBA program with 72.5 % enrollments from engineering stream students. 

As for the PGP Batch of 2020-22 sessions, participation from nonengineers was recorded at 24%, and 76% of students were enrolled from the engineering batch out of the total batch strength of 392 students. 

IIM Ahmedabad Admission 2022: Female Enrollment Dipped For 2022 Session

For sessions 2022-23, the institute has recorded a decrease in female enrollments. The number of female students for PGP FABM batch is recorded at 38%, while for PGP class, only 23% of female students have joined the PGP batch. 

As per the previous year's data, 114 women enrollment was recorded for the batch of 2019, which further dropped to 132 enrollments in 2017 session, and 121 enrollments for 2018 batch.

In 2020 session, the female student enrollment was 22 percent of the total class size, which increased by six percent for 2021 batch (with 28 percent). While the enrollment has dropped, the age of students who have registered for IIMA courses has remained the same over years. 

Referring to the admission data, the IIMA officials said, “IIMA takes pride in its unequaled pedagogy, which provides a transformative journey for its students through a series of carefully blended classroom and peer learning interventions".

"It brings together a cohort of students with diverse educational, professional, age, gender, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds, who bring new perspectives and can learn from one another" the officials further added.
