New Delhi: IGNOU Vice Chancellor has announced that the university will offer a training program to over 10,000 teachers on National Education Policy 2020. The announcement was made on the occasion of India’s Independence day celebration.

Informing about the initiative, the Vice Chancellor stated that IGNOU is working towards achieving the national goals through launching various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in regional languages in line with National Educational Policy 2020.
With this step, the university aims to achieve the goal of a 50 percent Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) by 2035. The university will also introduce the teachers and faculty members to various aspects of National Education Policy 2020 through a training session.
Nageshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor of IGNOU stated that "IGNOU is committed to providing quality education at an affordable cost to millions of aspiring learners in diverse disciplines offered by the university".
As of now, the university has launched 40+ IGNOU Courses 2022 in online mode for interested students. Among all new courses, the “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” course has received a good response from learners and received over 4,000 registrations.
On the occasion of Independence Day, the university also organized an exhibition at IGNOU V-C Office. The event included various activities such as Tiranga Yatra at the IGNOU HQ, distribution of assistive devices to students with disabilities, and a booster dose vaccination camp.
Earlier, in July 2022, the university launched its new flagship courses in Masters in Journalism and Mass Communication (MJMC) for the academic session 2022-23. The course will be offered to students in online, open, and remote learning modes.
Informing about the IGNOU MJMC Course 2022, the officials said, “To integrate recommendations of NEP 2020, School of Journalism and New Media Studies (SOJNMS), IGNOU has launched its flagship program - MJMC MA in two Indian languages - Hindi and Tamil”.
