IGNOU Introduces PG Diploma Course in Sindhi-Hindi-Sindhi Translation; Check Details Here

New Delhi: IGNOU has introduced a PG Diploma course in Sindhi-Hindi-Sindhi Translation (PGDSHST). On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, the School of Translation Studies and Training (SOTST) and the Sindhi Chair announced the new PG Diploma programme.

Professor Nageswara Rao, Vice-Chancellor of IGNOU, presided over the event and launched the PG Diploma in the Sindhi-Hindi-Sindhi Translation programme. In his inauguration address, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of mother tongue and the university's efforts to promote them.

Prof Ravi Prakash Tekchandani, Dean, DU, addressed the present situation of the Sindhi Language in the country and abroad, as well as how Sindhi has enhanced its vocabulary with Indian languages, in his speech.

According to him, the new initiative would provide more non-Sindhi individuals with access to the Sindhi language and literature.

Prof Aquil Ahmad, Director, NCPSL, praised IGNOU's efforts to build academic programmes and promote mother languages, particularly Sindhi. He spoke to NEP 2020 and emphasized the need of boosting the number of children receiving early education in their mother tongue.

Prof Sumitra Kukreti, PVC, IGNOU, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his assistance and direction in creating this programme of IGNOU. She offered a global perspective on mother tongue, which are under threat in many nations, and underlined the need of maintaining and develop them.

Kukreti also congratulated the School on the development of the PGDSHS Translation Programme and asked the staff to make efforts to reach out to prospective students.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Hasso Dadlani, Retired Principal, Government College, Ajmer, underlined the need of expanding awareness about Indian languages and praised IGNOU's efforts to promote Sindhi through the Translation Programme.
