New Delhi: On Saturday September 3, 2022 Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur announced the opening of a new degree college in the Baranda neighborhood of Nurpur to assist the local students.

The chief minister made the announcement today during a sizable public gathering staged as part of "Pragatisheel Himachal" at Baduhi Ground in Nurpur, Kangra district.
CM Thakur emphasized that there were just four districts when the state was first created instead of 12. "In 1948, the State's per capita income was barely Rs 240; it is now Rs 2,01,873, and the State's literacy rate has climbed to 83 percent from 4.8% in 1948," added CM Thakur.
As his home party took control of the region, he emphasized the northern State's growth.
He remarked, "The current state administration had to fight the corona pandemic for two years during its roughly five-year mandate. However, the state government also made sure that development continued at its current rate during this time. Due to the pandemic's impact on the first two years of the current State Government, I implore the populace to grant our government an additional five years so that we can work with more vigor and dedication to advance the State's development and the welfare of the people."
In 1948, there were just 228 kilometers of roads in the State, but today there are about 40,000Km roadways connecting every part of the State.
Rakesh Pathania, the State's minister of forests, also complimented the chief minister for consistently taking the needs of the residents of the Nurpur region into consideration.
Among those present at the event were MLA Jawali Arjun Singh, Vice Chairman Small Savings Sanjay Guleria, former MP Kripal Parmar, senior BJP leader O.P Chaudhary, BJP leader from the Fatehpur area Baldev Thakur, Deputy Commissioner Nipun Jindal, and other top bureaucrats.
