New Delhi: The bond requirement for students enrolling in government medical institutes for MBBS programmes was eliminated by the Haryana State government. Manohar Lal Khattar, the chief minister, has announced the action today; November 3, 2022 and stated that it was done to ensure that everyone, but especially those in need, had access to medical care.

Earlier, students had to pay a bond amount of Rs 10lakh to avail their seat for MBBS Course in any government Medical College. Students had to enter into a bond-cum-loan agreement with the college and the relevant bank for the same amount even though they are not required to pay the bond amount. If MBBS/MD graduates choose to work at government hospitals for a set period of at least seven years, the state government will pay for it.
The state’s Directorate of Information, Public Relations and Languages Department in a social media post said: “While giving relief to the MBBS students, the Chief Minister ML Khattar decided that now no student will have to pay any bond amount (ie, around Rs.10 lakh fee) at the time of admission to MBBS courses in government medical colleges of the state.”
“The government has taken this step so that after doing MBBS, students can work in government hospitals and give their services to the people of the state. The Chief Minister said that the State Government is moving ahead with the objective of providing health facilities to every person, especially the needy,” the Directorate said.
The pupils who are not accepted into Haryana's government hospitals must pay the aforementioned sum on their own. Once all financial obligations have been satisfied, they will be awarded their bachelor's degree. The state government's initiative aims to persuade more students to work in government hospitals and help the state's residents.
“At the same time, the candidates who do not want to join the government service in Haryana will have to pay the above amount themselves,” the spokesperson said.
