Students’ & Parents Reaction on the Conduct of GUJCET 2020
Monarch, a student from Surat, said, "I want this exam to get over and am scared at the same time as COVID cases have risen here. Even if one student appearing at the exam centre is infected, there are chances several more will contract it."
While Janakben, a concerned parent, asked, "We tried hard to convey it to the Gujarat government to postpone the exam through online campaigns. But our plea has not heard. Who will be responsible if our children get sick because of this examination?"
On the other hand, there are also students & parents who want the exam to be conducted as planned.
Sejalben, whose son will appear for the exam, said, "We have no assurance that Covid-19 will be under control after a month of postponing exams. Unless exams are conducted, our children will continue to live under pressure. They have been preparing for two years and studying the same syllabus for the entire duration."
Amid the rising tensions, Dinesh Patel, secretary of Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board has assured that all steps will be taken like sanitising the exam centres, maintaining social distancing besides other health precautions recommended by the state government and health officials.
He also highlighted that the board will go ahead with the examination as planned without any change in the schedule.
