M.Sc (Chemistry and Physics) Programmes 2015-16:

National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal invites admission application for Full Time Master of Science (M.Sc) program in Physics and Chemistry for academic year 2015-16.

Course Details:

M.Sc Programmes:

  • M.Sc (CY) – M.Sc in Chemistry
  • M.Sc (PH) – M.Sc in Physics

Minimum Qualification/Eligibility for NITK M.Sc. Programmes:

  • The candidates must have the following eligibility criteria for taking admission in M.Sc. Programme (Chemistry/ Physics)
  • The applicants must have passed a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry /Physics with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 out of 10 scale grading system, or must have at least 60% marks in the aggregate.
  • However, for SC/ST/PwD candidates this prescribed minimum shall be a CGPA of 6.0 or 55% marks in the aggregate.

Note:

  • “If the evaluation system in qualifying degree is in both CGPA and Marks, CGPA value will be considered. Also Conversion from Grade point system to Percentage system will not be considered.”
  • Candidate appearing for the qualifying examination in the academic year 2014-15 and expecting their final results latest by September 15, 2015 may also apply.

M.Sc (Physics) – 2 years : B.Sc Degree with Physics and Maths as Major subjects

How to Apply for NITK M.Sc Programme 2015:

  • To apply for the M.Sc (Chemistry & Physics) programmes, candidates can the prescribed application forms and Information Bulletin from the Institute website www.nitk.ac.in
  • The application form can be duly filled and sent it to the- "Assistant Registrar (Academic), National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal, Srinivasnagar, Mangalore-575025, Karnataka" State on or before the last date along with the demand draft of Rs.500/- (Rs.150/- for SC/ST students), drawn in favor of the Director, N.I.T.K., Surathkal payable at Mangalore
  • Candidates sponsored must get their applications forwarded through proper channel

Note:

  • Incomplete/defective or received late applications are liable to be rejected and no correspondence will be entertained on such applications
  • Interview will be held at NITK, Surathkal and candidates called for interview will have to appear for interview at their own cost.

Selection Procedure for NITK M.Sc Programme 2015:

For M.Sc (Chemistry & Physics) Programmes in NIT Karnataka the candidate will selected on the bases of the academic performance in the qualifying degree programme and written test conducted by the respective departments.

Documents required at the time of counselling/interview:

  • Original marks card of all Semesters of Degree programme
  • Date of Birth Certificate in Original (10th certificate)
  • Caste Certificate (original) for SC/ST candidates
  • Caste certificate for OBC candidates in prescribed format. (if applicable) from the Competent Authority issued after 31st March 2015.
  • Sponsorship Certificate, if applicable
  • Persons with Disabilities (PwD) certificate, if applicable.
  • Course completion Certificate from college (by result awaited candidates)
  • Two Self-Addressed Envelopes with Stamp each worth Rs 17/- (For postage in Mangalore) / Rs 39/- (for Postage outside Mangalore).

Documents to be submitted at the time of admission:

  • Admission order
  • Original marks sheet of qualifying examinations of all years with two sets of photocopy.
  • Degree Certificate or Provisional Pass Certificate issued by the University.
  • Medical Certificate
  • Date of Birth Certificate in original(10th Certificate)
  • Relieving Certificate in the case of Sponsored Candidates
  • Caste Certificate for SC/ST candidates
  • OBC Certificate (if applicable) from the competent authority issued after 31st March 2015
