New Delhi: Delhi University Vice-Chancellor, Yogesh Singh, has announced that the undergraduate curriculum under National Educational Policy, NEP 2022 will be finalized within two months.
The statutory body of Delhi University had recently approved the UG curriculum framework, based on which the syllabus for various courses needs to be framed.
The university has decided to implement NEP 2020 from the academic session, including a four-year undergraduate course.
As only a few months are left to commence the new academic session, Singh said that course structure for the first-year programme will be framed initially.
Singh said that the NEP 2020 Committee and the other related panels recently met, where it was decided that the structure of the undergraduate courses will be ready within the next two months. It will start with the first-year courses.

Further, the course structure will be taken up subsequently for the other years. The course framework for the undergraduate curriculum is already there and approved, so it shouldn't be a problem.
This will also be the first time when admissions to the various undergraduate programmes in the university will be on the basis of central universities, Common Entrance Test, CUCET, instead of merit-based admissions.
Singh said that the university officials are hosting regular meetings with government counterparts regarding the common entrance test.
Considering the high cutoff marks with every passing year, the university had announced that admissions to the undergraduate programmes will no longer be on the basis of the board examination results.
Moreover, the outbreak of the pandemic covid-19 also disrupted the academic calendar. Singh concluded by saying that the university has planned to start the semester classes by August 1. Although there might be a delay of a week or two, the academic calendar will simultaneously get synced.
The vice-chancellor also announced plans to begin the new engineering courses and hostels from the university’s Foundation Day, May 1, 2022.
