New Delhi: Delhi University has recorded B.Com and B.Com (Honors) degree programmes being the most-opted programmes by the applicants so far for the DU admissions 2022.

The B.Com and B.Com (Honours) courses are offered in a variety of colleges that make up nine out of ten college-program combinations, as a result of this, DU has witnessed a maximum number of applicants listing these combinations as a preference for DU UG Admissions 2022-23.
As of October 7, the most popular combination so far was B.Com at Ramjas College, which had a total of 35,761 candidates mentioning it as one of their preferences.
Following this are B.Com from Kirori Mal College (KMC) with 35,7210, B.Com from Sri Venkateswara College with 34,095, B.Com from Delhi College of Arts and Commerce with 33,468; B.Com (Hons) from Hansraj College with 31,434; B.Com (Hons) from Shri Ram College of Commerce with 31,318; B.Com (Hons) from Hindu College with 31,182; B.Com from Atma Ram Sanatan.
These numbers represent the total number of candidates who have listed a specific combination as a preference. They don't indicate where they fall on the candidate's list of preferences, so it's unclear how many students chose a certain combination as their top choice or their second choice.
Delhi University has created an online dashboard where candidates can view the number of candidates who have opted for a specific programme in a college, with the data being updated every two hours, as part of their efforts to help candidates in making informed decisions while listing their preferences.
The allotment of seats to candidates will be dependent on the choices they have listed and their position in the merit lists that DU will disclose based on their Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores, making this preference listing step of their admission application process significant.
A candidate will receive the highest preference on their list based on where they rank on the merit list.
According to Dean (Admissions) Haneet Gandhi, the information submitted does not distinguish between combinations that are ranked high or low on a candidate's list of preferences. It is all of the preferences data that are currently available to the varsity.
He said that the university officials are working to develop new features to assist candidates every day, and they are still figuring out what other information or assistance they can provide to help the candidates in this process.
B.Com. is offered at 16 different colleges, including lesser known colleges like Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, Aryabhatta College, and Motilal Nehru College (MLNC), in the top 20 combinations that have been listed the most times.
Apart from that, B.A. (Hons) English is also offered at Hindu College, Hansraj College, and St. Stephen's College, while B.Com (Hons) degrees are offered at SRCC, Hindu College, Ramjas College, and Kirori Mal College.
Most candidates, outside of these three programmes, have applied for Hindu College's B.A. (Hons) Political Science programme, which ranks 22nd overall in terms of total applications.
