Digital University of Skill Resurgence Receives Warnings from UGC to not Enrol Students


New Delhi: The Digital University of Skill Resurgence in Wardha, Maharashtra, has received a warning from the University Grants Commission (UGC) not to admit students in any of its courses. 

The UGC warned the applicants in an official notification that enrolling in such self-styled institutes (Digital University of Skill Resurgence) could endanger their careers. 

According to the higher education regulatory body, the Digital University of Skill Resurgence is offering courses and programmes in flagrant violation of the UGC Act, 1956. 

UGC has notified that the Digital University of Skill Resurgence (A Virtual Meta University), 54, Samrat Nagar Near Hindi University Ring Road, Wardha (Maharashtra)-442001 is offering various courses/programmes in gross violation of the UGC Act, 1956.

As per the Section 22 of the UGC Act of 1956, only institutions that have been created or incorporated under a central act, provisional act, state act, or an institution that has been determined to be a university under Section 3 are qualified to confer degrees to the students. 

The degrees can also be awarded by organisations that are authorised by a parliamentary statute. Consequently, no category applies to the Digital University of Skill Resurgence.

The UGC further stated in its notification that no educational institution may in any way refer to itself as a university unless it was founded in accordance with a central act, temporary act, or state legislation. 

In addition, the UGC has urged the students not to enrol in such institutions because doing so could harm their careers.
