Ever since the pandemic began, this is the first time that Delhi University decided to conduct the semester examination for students in offline mode. However, with the rising of Covid-19 cases in Delhi, the varsity has suggested some changes in practical examinations.

As of now, Delhi University is preparing to conduct the practical examination for students before the theoretical examination. The exam will be held offline in various exam centers for registered candidates.

While students of the university are demanding online exams for DU Courses, the university is yet to make any official announcement regarding the exam commencement. The official notice regarding changes in practical exams is expected to be released soon on the university website.

Delhi University Exams 2022: Students Demand Open Book Exams

Earlier, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Delhi University decided to conduct the classes for students in an online mode. Later, due to various Covid-19 restrictions, the university decided to commence the theoretical and practical exams for students in online mode, as well.

With the shift of exam mode, DU students protested at the North Campus against offline exams. Hundreds of students joined the protest and requested the authority to conduct the examination in OBE mode on April 18, 2022.

As per student associations, the university has completed most of the syllabus through online classes. Therefore, the commencement of offline examinations for students when the classes were held online is not valid.

Expressing her concerns, Divyanshu, a sixth-semester student of the varsity said, “More than half our studies happened online. We have been giving exams in the online mode for the last two years, we want the option to be able to write it in that way for this semester as well”.

Another student added that in time when the Covid-19 cases are rising in Delhi, it will be risky for students who will have to travel to Delhi in order to give their examinations in offline mode. The situation at present demands the conduction of the exam through OBE mode.

Talking about the protests, Manoj Sinha, Principal of Aryabhatta College said, “Students are saying that they have become unaccustomed to writing offline exams so many colleges are discussing conducting mock exams for practice"

"We have already begun these in our college so that they can get used to it. Classes have been happening in person so the exams will start after more than two and a half months of offline classes,” he further added.
