Delhi Teachers University to Offer Seven New Courses from 2022-23


New Delhi: Delhi Teachers University will offer seven new courses from the academic year 2022-23, said Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. The main aim of these courses is to provide world-class training to teachers.

Earlier, Delhi Teachers University was inaugurated on March 4, 2022 by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. As per the updates, the university is set up on 12 acres of land in Bakkarwala village in west Delhi. It can accommodate around 5,000 students at a time. 

At the University Board meeting held on March 15, the Deputy Chief Minister brought to light that its education system is deeply influenced by countries like Finland, Singapore, Japan, America and Europe. Hence, students will be offered exchange programmes to get exposed to international education systems.

  • Integrated BEd (4 years)
  • B.Ed (2 years)
  • BEd for Special Education (2 years)
  • Integrated B.Ed- M.Ed (3 years)
  • MA Education (3 years)
  • Certificate Course (School Education) (1 year)
  • Certificate Course (Higher Education) (1 year)

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also said that, “Delhi Teachers University would be the answer. This would allow India to be considered among the top countries of the world in the field of teachers’ education.

“University would adopt a multidisciplinary approach where trainees would get world-class training through innovative curriculum and expert faculty”, said Ameeta Mulla Wattal, Chairperson and Executive Director of Education (Innovation and Training), DLF Foundation Schools.

The Delhi Government also issued a statement saying, “Instead, capacity building of trainees will be in focus. They will be equipped with practical skills so that they can be better prepared for classroom teaching. 

It was also discussed in the meeting that the Teachers University would not only emphasize teacher training but also focus on fundamental and applied research in the field of education. The trainees in the university will be exposed to excellent pedagogical practices by expert faculty”.

It was also said in the conference by Rukmini Banerji, CEO, Pratham Education Foundation that the study model of Universities like Stanford University, University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University and more will also be incorporated in our education system for the betterment.
