
New Delhi: Delhi Government has given its approval to introduce various new medical courses in medical colleges, healthcare and medical institutes in Delhi. These courses will be offered with the aim to enhance the professional skills of medical students and healthcare workers.
The Delhi Government has approved the new Oncology Diploma, Nursing, Physiotherapy and BSc Paramedical Courses at a meeting on January 20, 2023. The courses will be open to nurses, pathologists, paramedics and physiotherapists in medical institutes in Delhi.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia shared that among the approved courses, post-diploma courses in Oncology Nursing and revalidation of 3 years BSc (Medical Technology, Radiotherapy) will be offered at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Center.
Delhi Pharmaceutical Science and Research University will offer a BSc in Nursing, Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Physiotherapy will cover Master of Physiotherapy (Sports) and Hindu Rao Hospital will offer BSc in Medical Laboratories courses to eligible candidates.
In addition to this, a continuation of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy Program will be offered by the Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute of Physical Disabilities. These courses will enhance the skill of medical workers and doctors who play an important role in medical healthcare.
Talking about this initiative, Manish Sisodia said, "The Covid pandemic was an eye-opener for all of us and made us realise that besides doctors we need well-trained paramedics, nurses, physiotherapists, pathologists in large numbers to cater to the emergent health needs".
"These courses will enhance the career opportunities for students in the Health Sector. This in turn will help the government in providing better and world-class healthcare services to the people of Delhi, which has always been the priority of CM Arvind Kejriwal'', he added.
