Delhi Government Sanctions Over INR 2,300 Crore for 2 New Campuses of Ambedkar University; Read Here

New Delhi: Delhi Government has approved funds worth INR 2,306.58 Crore for Ambedkar University's two new campuses in Rohini and Dheerpur Delhi on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.

As per the Delhi Government statement, the new campuses of Ambedkar University will offer 26,000 admission seats to students. The funds will be used to create a high-end infrastructure and offer the best facilities to students at upcoming campuses in New Delhi.

Every year, the university records over 2.5 lakh applications for Ambedkar University Admission. As of now, the university offers admission to over 4,000 students. With the inauguration of new campuses, the intake will increase to 30,000 students.

Speaking on the initiative, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia stated that not all students get admission to prominent universities despite having the capability and academic qualifications.

"To cater to the educational needs of such a large population of students, the new campuses are designed to ensure the most conducive environment to facilitate collective engagement, spaces for self-growth, knowledge production and dissemination, community living, and inclusive culture," he added.

Informing about the new campuses, he added that the new campus of Ambedkar University at Rohini Delhi will be built at the total cost of INR 1107.56 Crore. The campus will be spread over 1,64,130 sqm and will offer admission to 10,000 students.

As for the Ambedkar University campus at Dheerpur, the total cost of construction is said to be INR 1199.02 Crore and will be spread over an area of 2,00,759 square meters. Once after its inauguration, the campus will accommodate over 16,000 students every year.

New campuses of Ambedkar University will have all the necessary facilities required for course commencement. The campuses will also offer students with fully facilitated infrastructure with multi-story academic blocks and auditoriums.

Additionally, the campuses will have library blocks, amphitheaters, guest houses, and separate hostels for girls and boys along with different types of residential units for students who wish to apply for Ambedkar University Hostel facilities.
