Mr. K Satyanarayana is the current serving Principal of K.G.R.L College of Pharmacy. He is a thorough professional with 35 years of experience in the education sector. He holds a BA and MA degree in Sociology and Social Work from DNR College in Bhimavaram. He also has a Doctorate in Social Work from Andhra University. 

The Pharma Industry requires trained pharmacy professionals to face global challenges and compete with the multinationals

The college was established in 1975. The reputation of the founder precedes the college. We became autonomous in 2007. Although we are affiliated with Adikavi Nannaya University, the exams are conducted independently. Indian Pharma Industry, which has registered spectacular progress today, ranks 4th in volume and 13th in value in the global pharmaceutical market. The ever-expanding Pharma’s industrial and practice sectors need clinically and technologically trained pharmacy professionals who can face global challenges and compete with the multinationals. India has become a hub of the Pharma industry sector, especially Andhra Pradesh. We strive to be part of the impending change and play a key role in the same.

Inculcating discipline in students is our topmost priority. I give utmost importance to the extracurricular activities for the students. The onus is also on staff-student and UGC – College- Government relationships. So, for me maintaining a sustainable and healthy relationship with all the partners in the ecosystem is the way to move forward.

Our resources speak for themselves and we take immense pride in it 

The infrastructure and the facilities speak for themselves when it comes to marketing. We have had good progress over the years through word of mouth if counted the only way. We do distribute the occasional brochures during the time of admissions. We have introduced choice based electives and choice-based credit systems in 2015. Final year students are given an option to choose electives of their interest. Our Career Guidance Cell also counsels students towards picking the electives as this sets the path for their career for the next 10-15 years.

We have an internal committee that reviews and revises the curriculum every year. We constantly make efforts to stay abreast of the industry developments. Students are given ample opportunities to grow and expand their knowledge beyond their curriculum.

Apart from revising our curriculum regularly, we augment its various industry seminars, workshops, and conferences. This supplements the student's knowledge base and acts as a window to the professional world.

Our college doesn’t differentiate between people from different economic backgrounds

Our college doesn't differentiate between people of different economic backgrounds. We provide students with ample internship opportunities where they can make a decent amount of stipend. We inculcate the philosophy of earning while you learn early on in a student. We also facilitate fee reimbursements to students of poor economic backgrounds. Endowments and scholarships are also provided by our educational trust.

Skill development centers in our college helps the students to acquire industry skills

 My focus is on providing 100% placements to students. To facilitate the same, we have a skill development center set up, which trains students on various industry skills. Apart from academic laurels, extracurricular activities are equally important for students' overall development. We have a multi-purpose gym and various extracurricular competitions to facilitate the students.

Education must be combined with practical and industrial knowledge with nspired delivery of content

Education, especially in the Pharmacy sector, should be combined with practical experience and industry knowledge. Otherwise, imparted knowledge is not retained in the student's mind and becomes obsolete.

The institute’s instructional program provides a vivid knowledge of the theoretical as well as practical concepts with inspired delivery of contents. The curriculum addresses the core aspects of the Pharmacy. Pharmacy practice with a special emphasis on GMP, GLP, and GCP, apart from foundation knowledge skills, soft skills, industrial, and hospital visits with project work, enriches the techno-professional skills to handle the diversified needs of the Pharma Industry and health care sector.

Students should make use of social media wisely

The growing social media is more of a distraction. Students should make proper use of social media and the internet. Pharmaceutical science is a dynamic field that requires active efforts to keep up to date with industry advancements.

The idea is to change the perspective of the students on how they see the world

We have a community development center that is focused on developing slums and adopting villagers. This develops a social and moral responsibility among the students and helps them to see the world from a different perspective. We also encourage students to participate in Inter College and inter-university competitions. Most recently, our students have won quite a few competitions in the South Zone Youth Festival at Alagappa University.
