Dr. Rakesh Joshi has been working as the Chairman of the Swami Satyanand College of Management and Technology, Amritsar, Punjab. He has done M.Sc (Zoology), M.Phil, PhD as part of his academics. And he has more than 20 years of experience in the education sector.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

"Teaching gives me lot of opportunities to work for nation growth and interaction with young minds helps me to stay dynamic"

I strongly believe that teaching is a noble profession and also gives you tremendous opportunities to contribute to the nation's growth by educating youths and students. In addition to this you get numerous chances to interact with young minds which keeps you stay young and dynamic. So these factors together have kept me associated with the education sector for so long.


Being the Chairman of the institute, what is your philosophy of leadership? 

"A true leader has true moral values, ethics and is also humble by nature"

My Philosophy is that you have to develop all the etiquettes in you first which you expect from your staff and students. So morality and humbleness is very much required in society. And I also practice the same things while interacting with my staff members and students.


Which courses are offered by your institute and how many total seats are there in the respective courses?

"We offer BCA, BBA, B.Com, MBA and PGDBM like programs to students"

Our institute offers BBA, B.com, BCA and BHMCT along with B.Voc Courses at the Undergraduate level and MBA, PGDBM at the Postgraduate level. And the total combined seats of these courses are 300+.

In your experience, what inbound a student can gain from studying here in your institute?

The courses our institute offers are totally job oriented courses and we design our curriculum in line with the latest industrial developments and requirements. Overall course structure focuses more on practical learning instead of theory. And we fully support our students in terms of training and placements and make sure that maximum students get placed each year during recruitment drives.


How is your institute more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

"We accept students application from all over the country and offer scholarships to needy students"

We take admission of students from every corner of the country and also from all sections of society, and we really cherish the diversity of students we have in our college by engaging students in different kinds of activities and events. Apart from this, we provide different scholarship schemes to economically less privileged students and to those as well who come from border areas etc. 


What are your roles and responsibilities for the college and students?

"To supervise college activities and ensure that students receive best quality education and amenities"

Being the Chairman, my role is to supervise all the college activities and also that we impart quality education to students for their better development. And for this I ensure that we do have the latest labs with all kinds of required equipment and infrastructure, highly qualified staff and a comfortable and safe environment for students and staff members. Lastly, I am always approachable by students whenever they need support, inspiration and guidance.


What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next 10 years?

"We aspire to improve education quality of our institute and produce more entrepreneurs and future leaders"

Our institute’s top priority for the next 10 years is to make practical and skilled education more versatile. We want our students to be job ready by making them more confident and enhancing their skills as per industry standards, because competitions in the real world are actually real and tough.


When you first came to the SSCMT, what was your vision for the institute? 

"My goal was to give employment oriented courses to our students"

When I joined this institute as a Chairman, my main aim was to provide quality education to our students which can give them employment in the future and we also provide every kind of possible support to bring out the entrepreneurship quality of students so that instead of job seekers they can become job providers.


What makes your college unique in comparison to others? 

"Our programs, facilities we offer and college infrastructure makes us unique"

And all the modernized services are there in the college to make the study environment more interactive, creative, to fulfill academic needs of students and make them more confident and industry ready. 


What are the greatest strengths of your SSCMT college? 

"Our faculties and courses makes us strong and resilient"

We do have a team of highly educated faculties who put a lot of effort and hard work to teach our students and help them to fulfill their future goals by supporting, guiding and counseling them. In addition to this we offer the best quality Technical and Practical education to our students to give wings to their dreams, so in my opinion both the things are the main pillars of our strength.

Any suggestions which you would like to give to the current youth and aspiring students?

"Focus more on acquiring good quality education and keep upgrading your skills"

I would like to advise my students and our youths to focus on more practical and technical education instead of getting only theoretical knowledge. Don't run behind marks, but make sure to strengthen your concepts and on getting quality education by upgrading yourself and your skills.
