Dr. Ashutosh Nirola is the Principal at Luxmi Bai Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Patiala. He has a vast experience of 25 years in research, academics and administration. He has completed his Bachelor’s and specializes in the field of Periodontology. He has been teaching Undergraduate and Post Graduate students and is also a Ph.D. guide for several students. He loves to impart training to his students based on his life experiences.

What is your philosophy of leadership?

“Democratic style of functioning allowing united growth”

As the head of the Institution, my aim is to encourage all the teaching staff members to impart training in a cooperative way to the students. Also, to become mentors and have a friendly interaction with them. Apart from that discipline is also maintained.

What can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute? 

“Affiliated courses and a DCI approved curriculum for students benefit”

In our institute, students are taught according to the Dental Council of India's curriculum and the University's curriculum. Additionally, we conduct training for foreign countries' exams, such as the USA, UK, and Canada, while guiding them according to their curriculum.

What do you think your responsibilities to the Institute and the students are?

“Be a guide and mentor with a positive effect on students and colleagues”

Our aim is to impart good education to our learners. We want them to become ethical doctors with compassion towards patients and fellow colleagues. Our main role is to act as dynamic age-defying mentors and not old-time teachers.

Our Institute has zero-tolerance against race discrimination. Hence, we believe in complete democracy as per the constitution of India. We have students of different religions including Hindu, Sikhs, Muslims, Minority students as well as SC, BC and economically weaker students. Our Institute takes the minimum fees and comes in the first five institutions in India as per India Today survey with minimum Tuition Fees.

What do you think should be the Institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“Enabling our learners with in-depth research-based education”

Our aim for the next five to ten years towards students imparting quality education and research activity and more research activity for PG Students-work and help towards poor patients maximum camps and to get more PG specialties in College.

What would you like people to know about your institute they may not know?

“A focus on extracurricular activities to build a student-oriented habitat and 100% results this year”

Besides academics, our institute has the best green spaces and plantations for extracurricular activities. We have state-of-the-art equipment, a gym, outdoor games, tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, an indoor game hall, a dining hall, and good AC Hotels with attached washrooms, solar heating, mess facilities, etc.

How are you helping students learn better in these difficult times?

“Online educational resource material provided for self-learning”

Apart from regular teaching, students have been given online backup and extra study material during Covid times. Additionally, extra training has been given towards sterilization and disinfection to save ourselves and patients from deadly diseases.
