How do you plan the marketing and administration of your college?

“Use of digital tools and platform to interact with learners”

We offer a number of courses including agriculture, mass communication, and hospitality. Because of the crisis, it is hard to approach students right now. Parents and students are reluctant to send their children to campus. As a result, we have been using platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp, as well as online marketing. I would also like to mention CollegeDunia as another good way for students to interact with us.

How does the curriculum of IMMT ensure the best practices in the industry?

“We organize monthly workshops, industrial visits, and seminars”

I feel that the curriculum should be industry-based. Whatever we teach the students should make them employable and inculcate practical skills. Hence, we organize seminars, workshop sessions, industrial visits, and every 15 days we hold workshops for the students to give them hands-on experience. Our curriculum is also updated simultaneously. As new technologies and topics emerge, we try to incorporate them into our syllabuses.

What do you think are your responsibilities towards the college and students?

“Create an environment that is suitable for constant learning and growth”

Being the principal of the college, I ensure that we have an atmosphere that is conducive and amicable for academics, and students are comfortable with the faculty. Since most of the teaching is being done online, we allot specific timings to them wherein they can ask questions and clear their doubts. We also invite experts from the industry for regular interactions.

What do you think should be the college’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“Focus towards innovation, research and better learning opportunities”

I think the top priority should be to get the students to innovate. More emphasis should be given to the practical side, wherein they can recreate. In addition to learning, there should be some form of recreation for the students. Therefore, we focus on creativity, as well as practicality among students.

What are the opportunities available for the growth of students and faculty?

“FDP’s, training sessions and placement drives”

Our placement cell regularly organizes placement drives for the students. Along with conducting activities to help our students grow, we also conduct faculty development programs so that they are also up to date. In our opinion, if the faculty stays current on the latest technologies and findings, they will be able to educate the students and keep them up-to-date. In addition, we strive to create a friendly atmosphere in which students and faculty alike feel comfortable asking questions and interacting.

What has been your vision for the college since you joined it?

“Build creative, innovative and enthusiastic professionals”

I think it is a continuous process that you cannot put into a particular time frame. We are emphasizing learning, innovation, and we want the students to be creative. Simultaneously, we also want the faculty to stay updated from time to time. These are the things we are trying to accomplish. This college has been my home for the past three years. It appears that students have become more pro-learning since the last time I observed them. It is also our responsibility to provide workshops on certain topics based on what our students want to study.

What do you see as IMMT’s greatest strengths?

“One of the oldest educational institutions in Uttarakhand”

This college was established in the year 1989 and is one of the oldest institutions in Uttarakhand. It is one of the premier colleges in Uttarakhand in terms of Mass Communication. The college has its own TV channel and excellent laboratory facilities. We use and implement the latest software in the market for students.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth?

“Dedication, focus and continuous efforts are important”

To succeed, you have to work hard. There is no such thing as a ready-made product. You cannot expect everything to be put on a platter for you. Putting in the effort takes time, but it will pay off in the end. Keep an eye on things and stay up to date as well.
