Dr. Rajendra Thorat is currently serving as the Principal at SANSKAR MANDIR'S ART & COMMERCE COLLEGE, Pune. Having a rich experience of 17+ years in teaching and academic administration, he has published several books and around 25 Research Papers in several journals. Also, he has received many awards and recognitions during his service like Sant Namdev Award, Best Writer & Dialogue Award for a short film at MITEE Short Film Festival. He has been a professional speaker at many events and national & international conferences as well.

What latest program do you offer in your college that helps students outperform?

“Add-on courses based on latest technology”

Along with the traditional courses like B.A and B.Com, our college offers various certificate courses such as,

  • Certificate course in Computerized Accounting
  • Certificate course in Soft Skills
  • Certificate Course in Basic Computer Usages etc. 

These courses help our students upgrade their professional skills and knowledge to stand out in the crowd and attain success. 

How do the programs ensure that the students are being prepared for the future?

“Potential learning and skill enhancement”

We offer experiential learning experiences to our students that inculcates among them full potential skill development for future needs. By offering practical knowledge of the subject, we attempt to polish their soft skills as well, so that they can face all kinds of professional challenges with ease. Along with, a team of expert teaching staff and hands-on experience to learn new things make this program the best for the students to opt for. 

What challenges do you face while inculcating these programs in the curriculum?

“Introducing students to these new courses”

The major challenge we came across while inculcating the program in our curriculum is the basic efficiency of the students. The students are completely unaware of the basic knowledge of these subjects they are supposed to have. This makes it difficult for us to complete the syllabus in the prescribed time. However, by making them practice it again and again, and taking some extra classes we try to cope up with these kinds of challenges.

Which opportunities are available for the growth of students at your college?

“Seminars and training activities with internships and events”

Our college functions as per the rules and regulations laid by the Government of Maharashtra. The college academic calendar posted on the college website shows all the upcoming activities such as seminars, workshops and training programs, guest lectures, competitions and so forth. We regularly organize all the above-mentioned activities by keeping in mind the co-curricular and extracurricular development of our students. Some of the students are sent to attend and participate in the various state as well as national level activities held around. The commerce graduates are also offered internships under well-established CA Offices around.

What would you like people to know about your college that they may not?

“Well-established sports and games curriculum”

The sports department of our college is one of the extremely well functioning departments. A detailed record of all the achievements in the last 11 years can be found on our college website. Every year the department sends its students to various state, national as well as international level competitions all over India. Wrestling, Kabaddi, Boxing, BodyBuilding, Cricket, Athletics, etc. are some of the specialized games that the department offers to our students.

What are the future goals of the college?

“Imbibing new programs and higher degree courses”

The college is planning to start some Post Graduate courses such as M.A and M.Com to increase the diversity and experience of students. We are planning to offer some vocational training courses also so that along with graduation the students can achieve some additional skills making them competent enough to be a part of today’s extremely demanding society.
