Dr. D. Jayanthi has been working as the Head of Business Administration Department at Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. She has done MBA, PGDCA, M.Phil and Ph.D. (Marketing) as part of her academics. She has an amazing experience of 23 Years including 22 years in handling UG classes. She has served as a member of the Inspection Commission for course approval of colleges under Bharathiar University. She is also a member of the Board of Studies (UG) of Nirmala College. She has organized various programs for the Women Empowerment and is an active member of Coimbatore Productivity Council and Coimbatore Management Association. She has participated in many technical seminars, faculty development programmes and workshops. She also holds the post of President of IIC, Convener of WEC and Public Relations Officer. She has published research papers in reputed peer reviewed International and National journals and has also presented around 24 papers in International and National Seminars and Conferences.

The Department of Business Administration offers an industry specific programme namely BBA with Business Process Management and BBA with Computer Applications. These programs are designed in such a way that our students can learn the various nuances involved in managing the core business activities of an organization using technology for the betterment of business operations and the various steps involved in starting and managing their own enterprises. These programs are highly industry oriented courses since start-ups, technological innovation, business process automation and outsourcing are gaining more importance from the past few years.

As per my experience, running a business organization requires practical approach and expertise of various functional areas such as production, marketing, finance, human resource and sales etc. Hence our Department of Business Administration always focuses on giving a practical exposure and experience to students using innovative methods of teaching like case analysis, business plan preparation, product launch, ad making and so on apart from inculcating theoretical knowledge. Next, we have activities like workshops on trending and industry specific topics to instill the spirit of leadership, team work, time management and resource management. 

How does this program ensure the future preparedness of students?

I firmly believe that surviving in a competitive world requires life-long learning and continuous upgradation of domain specific knowledge. Keeping this in mind, we train our students on current industrial trends to make them aware about the corporate environment and culture. An average of 10 industry-institute interactions are conducted every year to give a wide perspective of the industrial happenings to our students. We also ensure our students' participation in seminars, conferences, conclaves, trade fairs and industrial visits because it increases their exposure level and also enhances their self-confidence to face a highly volatile business environment in future.
