He has 10-years of experience in the Food and Beverage industry with leading hotel brands. He is a dedicated industry professional and has been a part of several renowned hospitality chains all over India.
What are your responsibilities towards the students of your institute?

As a faculty, we motivate our students and educate them about various career options after taking our courses. We also organize training sessions in different hotels and in our on campus state of the art practical labs for effective practical learning. Providing placement and management training is also a part of our job profile.
How do you enhance the student’s practical knowledge of the subjects?
“By using the digital graphic mode of learning and providing field exposure”
Recently, there has been a reduction in bookish teaching and an increase in skill-based practical learning. Hence, we teach them via video presentations and our modern audio-visual classrooms enhance the learning experiences.
How does the department help students gain the necessary skills of the Hospitality sector?
“With help of live demo classes and personal guidance to every student”
We have well established practical demonstrative lab on our campus. It helps create a realistic scenario that is seen in hotels and restaurants. We have all the equipment and infrastructure to train students in various domains of the hospitality sector. We perform demos and demonstrate how real F&B outlets function.

How is the curriculum structured at IMB School of Hospitality?

We are associated with the Utkal University of Culture, which is the governing body of our college. The syllabus is prepared by the expert team of the University. It is a 4-year degree course divided into 8 semesters. One of the crucial semesters also consists of industrial training.
What challenges have you come across during your journey in this sector?
“Lack of awareness regarding hospitality education amongst aspiring students”
The main challenge is that people are not aware of the hotel management courses and career options in this field. People usually go mainstream courses such as Engineering and Medical. Hence, the main challenge is the lack of awareness. To resolve this issue we regularly do career counselling with the parents as well as the students by visiting various schools & colleges .

In our department, we do not focus on bookish knowledge. Our concentration lies more towards enabling the students with the best skills required in F&B. We prioritize enhancing the skills by teaching them about the current trends and their importance in the market.

What valuable advice would you like to give the students for a prosperous career?
“To have an adaptable nature and excellent soft skills”
Students must have great communication skills and also have basic computer knowledge. Also, to succeed in this industry, students must try to adopt smart working style with proper grooming and pleasing personality . Eventually, hard work and dedication are the key factors for success in any working sector.
