Dr Richa Dayaramani is the Principal of Khyati College of Pharmacy Ahmedabad, Gujarat. She has done M.Pharm (QA) and holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacy. She has around 20 years of professional experience. This includes 15 years in academics and 5 years in the pharma industry in the QA department. She holds several professional positions like Vice President, Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India, Gujarat State; President – Human Ethics Committees Association, President – Women’s Forum SPSR Gujarat Chapter and M Pharm Syllabus Committee Member – Pharmacy Council of India. She aims to provide exceptional education in the field of pharmacy education.
What is your philosophy of leadership?

As head of an institution, I like to lead by example. I have a vision for my institution and its members. We want to emerge as education leaders where we produce professionals who can translate the learning into real life. As a leader, motivating others brings immense motivation and pride.
What do you think should be the Institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?
“To impart an education that that transforms youth into competent, aware and socially responsible professionals”
The institute’s priorities over the next few years are capacity development, entrepreneurship development, and social sensitivity. Additionally, we wish to align our curriculum to the changing industry needs and technological ecosystem.

What can an inbound student gain from studying here in your Institute?

Our institute is proud of its futuristic approach, tech-savvy operations and the extensive connection with the industry and hospitals of the area. We offer various opportunities to the students to explore their abilities and to develop their personality. The entire academic process is very well planned and organized. We are constantly in touch with the students and tailoring our curriculum as per their needs to ensure the best placements.
What are some of the biggest challenges for higher education in the current scenario?
“The biggest challenge is lack of awareness, industry exposure and skills required in the field of Pharmacy”
There is an ever-increasing gap between the industry and academics. We see this as a potential threat and wish to overcome it with dynamic curriculum and timely corrections. Another challenge is the relaxed attitude of the students towards education. We need to be more conscious and responsible in our field as it is related directly with the health requirements of individuals.
What has been your vision for the students of this institute?
“To nurture the students in such a way that they will be an asset to the profession, community and nation at large”
I strive for academic excellence and impart quality education to nurture students with the best technical skills as well as soft skills. Also, help them develop a keen interest to work on innovative research projects. I try to share knowledge, morals and values with my students that will help them grow as competent healthcare professionals and responsible citizens.
What are some plans that you’re currently (or will be) designing for your students?
“Institutional collaborations, Faculty Development Programs, Industry Institute Partnership Cell and skill enhancement courses for students and faculty”
We are constantly exploring newer ways of imparting education and skills.
- Currently, in the process of establishing a UNESCO bioethics unit at Khyati Foundation, specifically for pharmacy.
- Tie-up with IIT Kharagpur to offer short courses like drug designing, computational skills, pharmacovigilance, clinical research, etc.
- We are looking forward to submitting proposals to conduct faculty development programs, short term training programs and workshops.
- In touch with research organizations and labs for conducting hands-on workshops for pharmacy students.

The young professionals of India are responsible for shaping the future of our great nation and contribute for world peace.
