Prof. Khushit Mehta is the Trainer for Corporate Soft Skills in Graduate School of Business. He did B.Com from from Narsee Monjee College, Mumbai and MBA in International Business from IIFT Delhi. He has worked in Singapore and Peru before returning to India where he worked for the world’s largest towel manufacturer and later also established his own business before opting for a career in academia. He has previously taught in CA, CS, GMAT and Commerce students in coaching classes, he has now joined the prestigious institution of GSB. He is a NET Qualified faculty who teaches marketing, finance, statistics and economics subjects to BBA and B.Com. students. He is also a trainer for corporate soft skills.

How do you try to bring a practical approach towards subjects as industry oriented in Graduate School Of Business, Indore?

“Provide real world examples, case studies, seminars and demonstrative videos for pupils”

I always relate theory subjects to daily activities for the better understanding of students. We provide real world examples and case studies of famous Indian as well as foreign organizations to illustrate the principles in practice. I organize multiple seminars on the marketing magic of McDonald’s , Coca Cola and Parle G for pupils. They get demonstrative videos to learn about some industries such as FedEx, Amazon, Ted-Ed etc. 

What are the best practices offered by the department for students to gain necessary skills? 

“Internships, smart classrooms and certifications based skills are available for students”

Our faculties taught students through smart classrooms, videos and presentations. We always organize certifications based on the essential skills not taught in the syllabus. It assists students to handle useful tools and develop skills such as digital marketing, MS Excel, Tally, Web designing, Corporate grooming etc.They can easily work in the corporate world through internships and industry experiences. 

How do you strategize the curriculum and update it for the students in Graduate School Of Business, Indore?

“Plan activities, lesson plans and update syllabus each year”

We divide the syllabus of each subject into three parts such as Notes, Videos and Presentations. Our campus plans several activities for pupils. Faculties go through the syllabus and organize all notes before the course begins. We implement a tentative strategy, and create the lesson plan for students. Hence, we get the timely participation and preparedness of students attending the class. Our campus updates the syllabus each year and feedback from pupils is a priority for us.

What are your views upon the placements and higher education to students?

After completing the graduation, most students decide to opt for MBA. We collaborate with industry officials, trainers and Competitive Exam Coaching institutes in Indore. They prepare students for various exams such as CAT, CMAT, XAT, SNAP, NMAT and other Entrance exams. Institute trainers also provide training to students for the Group Discussion, and Personal Interview rounds. Our placement cell enables students to get internship or job opportunities in the corporate world. They get placed in companies offering marketing, HR, finance, administration and other profiles in both online and offline job. Moreover, a workshop is also conducted for students on Corporate soft skills covering topics like CV preparation, SoP drafting, and public speaking. 

How do you help students to cope up with competition in the outside world?

“Organize guest lectures, certification programs, and projects for pupils”

Campus conducts certification programs to enrich students' skills and it assists them to handle useful tools such as MS Excel, Tally, etc. They get sessions from industry experts to access the latest industry trends. We provide projects and several activities for students. They need to manage the time, adjust their lectures, and arrange for all resources. 

Do you have any extracurricular activities to enhance the skills of the students to face real world challenges?

“Organize Sports week, picnics, outstation trips, vocational activities, dance, and music for students”

We regularly conduct a multitude of activities, events and programmes aimed at developing the overall personality of students. Vocational activities designed as a part of the curriculum to give hands-on learning experience for students. We organize dance, music, Annual Day, Debate, Sports week, picnics, and outstation trips. Management fest is the biggest event that is conducted in a four day period with various activities and competitions. Students participate in various events which test their physical , mental and emotional prowess. It assists students to involve real world scenarios and work with full effort.

We have support from outside to upgrade ourselves and train faculties as per the latest developments in their fields of study. The faculties are encouraged to acquire as many qualifications as possible so as to enhance their field of expertise in teaching. We conduct regular training and team building activities for faculties. They work together cohesively for the overall development of the college. 

What approaches do you bring in apart from curriculum to train the students? 

“Marketing classes, and practical concepts are available for pupils”

I take examples from daily life to teach subjects for students. We make them practice important concepts through life like examples. On the other hand, they get marketing classes that cover advertisements, personal selling and B2B sales skills. I inform students about best industry practices and provide case studies of actual detailed scenarios.

One of the greatest strengths is faculties who completed their studies from IIFT, Delhi and Nirma University, Gujarat. They also qualified CMA, Ph.D and have a wide experience. You need to develop some passion, hobby and skill outside of professional life. It keeps you interested, and motivated. Value your time over knowledge and qualifications.
