Mr. S.K. Giram is the Principal at All India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society Polytechnic, Pune. He has completed his M.E. and is currently pursuing his Ph.D.(Mechanical Engineering). He started his career as a Trainee Engineer. Having a passion for teaching, he changed his career path to becoming an academician. He joined AISSMS’s Polytechnic, Pune in 1998 and has been a part of the academic team for more than two decades.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“An innate passion towards teaching and research domain”

Since finishing my M.E., I have been associated with the education sector. As an educator, I don’t just teach students, I also insist them to keep upskilling and learn the current trends. In a way helping them to become a professional with strong ethics.


What is your philosophy of leadership and its balanced implementation?

Leaders must have a vision and articulate it clearly to provide direction for the group”

I believe: Leaders got to provide leadership opportunities for others to foster growth and share responsibility for attaining goals. 

The Pacesetting Style or “Do as I do, now” sets high standards for performance and is employed to urge quick results from a highly motivated and competent team. It works with the college principal as a pacesetter once they bring years of experience or innovative new ideas to the role.


How do you strategize for the marketing of your school?

“By understanding the ongoing trends of students, their requirements and how to deliver”

Just like each student has different strengths and goals, every college has its own set of opportunities and selling points. By focusing on our institution’s strengths, the marketing team can stake out a unique position. This helps them attract students who are looking for those particular capabilities and increase the likelihood of inquiries and applications.


How does the curriculum of AISSMS ensure the best practice of industry?

“The Maharashtra State Technical education curriculum involves industry training and school connects”

AISSMS Polytechnic has implemented the MSBTE curriculum. Various industries have actively participated in designing the MSBTE curriculum. This will bridge the gap between the industry and institutions, thus enabling the scholars to become industry-ready. This will also reduce the time, effort, and resources spent on the scholars at industries before taking up the important projects.

What do you think your responsibilities to the University and the students are?

“To provide education and research in an environment where continuous improvement is a top priority”

My essential role and responsibility towards affiliating the board and students are general administration and overall supervision of teaching programs. In addition to this, the supervision of student’s welfare, health, and security services respectively.


What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“To attract excellent faculty for the development of the department, College and its students”

In the next 10 years, MSBTE should help the institute to initiate the steps towards employment and self-employment of diploma holders. There Should be the overall development of the student. 


What would you like people to know about your university they may not know?

“Innovative learning, critical-thinking, and 360-degree development are promoted at AISSMS”

We would like people to know our institute as a Centre of Academic Excellence. We provide a learning environment that encourages working on innovative projects to promote holistic personality development. Our sole aim to have an environment that nurtures future leaders.

“A gap exists between the curriculum and the industry requirement, we must overcome it”

Education models need to reflect the demand for lifelong learning. It should assist the learners to cope with the technological and social changes brought by the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
