Prof. S. K. Giram is currently the Principal at AISSMS Polytechnic, Pune. His professional qualifications include ME (Mech) and ME (Prod). He started his career as a Trainee Engineer of Kirloskar Pneumatic Co. Ltd, Pune in 1991. Having a passion for teaching, he changed his career path to set up the career of students, when he joined Amrutvahini College of Engineering, Sangamner as a lecturer in Production Engineering, in 1992. He shifted to AISSMS’s Polytechnic, Pune in 1998 & has been a part of the academic team for more than two decades. As a part of AISSMS’s Polytechnic, Pune he was promoted as a HOD [Mechanical Engineering] in 2003 and as a Principal in 2009. He has presented a research paper on ‘Energy Conservation and Audit’ in ELECOM 98 conference, held in Pune.

Factors that made Prof. S.K. Giram more inclined to AISSMS Polytechnic

Working environment & service conditions provided by the management made me more inclined to this college and exposure to multiple perspectives makes the educational sector, the best sector to work in.

My leadership philosophy is focused on showing respect to everyone. My leadership style is leading by example.

Achieving a dynamic approach towards both student and faculty development

I always encourage the teachers to remain energetic and dynamic & the students to learn through activities.

The AISSMS Polytechnic, Pune placement cell co-ordinates various activities related to the career of the students along with the industrial training.

Skills required by a student to become successful personnel in today’s world

Communication skills, soft skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills are the important skills required by the student to become a successful personnel in today’s world.

Views on an ideal school environment

As per my opinion, an ideal college should have the guidance of dedicated teachers. The teacher should handle each student very personally and should make ideal citizens out of students. I always encourage my faculty to produce ideal citizens for the nation.

In addition to the effective implementation of MSBTE curriculum, we at AISSMS Polytechnic Pune always focus on student-centered activities, which are very important for the overall development of our students.

Importance of adopting changes in the educational sector to grow over a period of time

To grow over a period of time, there has to be a very close and continuous monitoring of the phenomenal technological advancements that have been taking place elsewhere in the world. Also, the emerging areas need to be observed and respective courses and faculty are regularly & continuously updated from time to time.
