IMS Ghaziabad adopted new normal for Teaching & Assessments during the pandemic

Date: January 18, 2022

Schools and Colleges all over the world have closed due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic. Many schools are implementing their distance learning contingency plans by connecting students and teachers via online mode. National and local governments are partnering with broadcasting service providers to deliver the educational content via television and radio during the dedicated hours.

IMS Ghaziabad is converting these challenges into opportunities through new teaching ways to keep the learning continue. IMS Ghaziabad has included new ways of teaching in its curriculum are as follows:

  • Online Session Technology: IMS has adopted new technologies such as Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc. The classes are conducted online using these online session technologies.
  • Distance Learning Model: Many Educational services are provided through distance learning models. They have implemented internet-based forms of learning while some also established offline distance learning strategies.
  • Organizing Counselling Sessions: Due to Lockdown and Work from Home policies of various organizations, parents spend more time with their children. Therefore, these types of sessions are organized for them to ensure digital detoxification of them as well as their children.
  • Digital Knowledge Library: With the increase in the online presence, the enhancement of the digital knowledge library is the main need of the schools for the improvement of the self-learning of the students. The resources are made available to the students with just one click. These resources include the recorded class session, e-books, e-newspapers, etc.
  • Curriculum adjustments and prioritization: Contextualization is needed to ensure that the contents are relevant to the current emergency situation. These adjustments must prioritize the competencies and values that come to the fore in the current situation.
  • Formative Assessments: Formative assessment is particularly relevant to understanding the learning needs of each and every student and to adjusting instruction accordingly. The need for a formative assessment right now is particularly critical because learning needs to take place outside the physical classroom, and teachers and parents-turned-teachers need to understand whether students are absorbing the content that is delivered to them in formats that differ from business-as-usual.

The current COVID-19 pandemic has posed various challenges for the educational industries. For educators, the COVID-19 Pandemic is a quintessential adoptive and transformative challenge. It is a one and only type of challenge for which there is no preconfigured playback that can guide the appropriate responses. Therefore, IMS Ghaziabad is working swiftly to design the responses and with a specific context in mind as the pandemic runs its course.
