XIME Chennai

How would you describe your leadership style?

“Minimum interference, Maximum contribution”

I believe that each individual, whether it be my teachers or my students, has a great deal of potential, so my philosophy is simple and straightforward to offer them the best environment to learn and grow. I don’t micromanage things, I provide the contribution that is required for excellence. I let them perform rather than looking for minor details.

How do you strategize the key programs for the administration of your College?

“Enhancing and improvising academic strategies at first place”

The strategy is most efficient in terms of the work, in terms of academic excellence and a healthy atmosphere for all the members as well as students. Our focus should be on improving the academic curriculum and bringing placements, and when placements happen, admissions will automatically follow. So we believe that improving academic quality is at the heart of all of those efforts, and it is one that we have been focusing on for a long time.

What can an inbound student gain from studying here in your College?

“Full practical exposure and live projects”

The campus is located around the automobile hub of Chennai. So being located in such an advantageous location, we have devised from our first batch something called live projects. We ensure that classroom training is completed before time, and students are then instructed to work in a nearby organization. They were trained and exposed to the industry from day one of their college.

How does the curriculum of the College ensure the best practice of industry?

“Enriched syllabus with workshops and seminars”

Our curriculum is reviewed and upgraded every three years to ensure the latest content being delivered to the students. And ensuring that students pass out of our portal and join a corporate company is a top priority for modifying the curriculum and the basic framework. The period between being a student and entering the business world is crucial. So, to make that happen, we aim to provide students with input from the business sector, whether through academic curriculum, lecture workshops or leadership presentations. I make sure that students are never far away from real-world experiences.

How far have you been successful in implementing the vision of the college?

“Adaptation and changes are always on-going”

I consider myself fortunate because management had already provided the groundwork, and it was quite simple for me to set up. But that’s not to say I didn’t have the initial inputs to work upon. We’ve come a long way since then. The way we connect with the industry has changed as we have shifted expectations from the outside world. As a leader, I believe that having your finger on the pulse and making sure that you are aware of what is going on around you and that you are adapting to the changes occurring globally is a huge challenge and one that we are still working on.

What would you like people to know about your College they may not know?

“Unique and well-established ethical standards in education”

We have placed a lot of effort into producing efficient and effective managers, and most importantly ethical managers as we do not want every student that goes to the corporate world to become unethical. Xime is a place for ethical education, in addition to having a world-class syllabus, world-class collaboration, world-class accommodation, and world-class visiting teachers with over 20-30 years of experience.

What are some plans that you’re currently designing for XIME students?

“New course lines and better learning experience”

We are thinking about adding another latest and high level course to our curriculum. Cybersecurity is being considered as a first elective and eventually as an MBA option. Furthermore, we think that learning should take place outside of the classroom as well. Therefore we encourage students to enrol in online courses or pursue a certification programme. As a result, we encourage them to choose a course based on their area of interest. So, there are a lot of value additions that have been done in addition to the classroom learning and to have a wonderful industry experience for students.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth?

“Keep an open mind and be curious”

Be open to new learning experiences, read more and be more aware of the environment, and most importantly, be curious. The more curious a student is, the more learning is possible, and until that happens, real learning does not occur. So, try to explore things beyond your area and try to always be innovative.
