Mr. Harsh Dalal is the Director at JD Institute of Fashion Technology. As the Director, he spearheads the expansion in India and abroad. Despite his goal of global openness, he truly believes in educating the young Indians on futuristic design and trends. With excellent organizational and planning skills, he seeks to engage students about the key deliverables identified and advanced guided navigation for the London Research Program. Mr. Dalal has received the ‘Youth Achiever of the Year Award’ by New Delhi Social Worker Association.

Do you think India has gained a place in the global spectrum when it comes to fashion?

“Definitely we are evolving and expanding our presence in this area”

Slowly but surely we are on our way to pin Indian fashion on the global spectrum. We are now witnessing our heritage weaves making it to the international fashion weeks. Our global collaboration aims to give our students a global platform to showcase their work. Indian Fashion has increasingly gained momentum in the last decade and is now becoming a focal point on the International Fashion arena with truly global sensibilities. 


How does the curriculum of your institute aligned with the dynamic practices of the fashion industry?

Our curriculum is meticulously designed keeping a balance between industry demands and opportunities provided by us to students such as lectures, workshops, and design projects. With an industry-centric approach and with the help of illustrious industry members, we are paving the path of creativity for our students. We invite industry experts and professionals at regular intervals to interact with the students.

Our institute has collaborated with several designers, buying houses, design studios, jewellery brands, export houses, and organizations that share its values and seek for a Jediiian to be on their team. The students are groomed for placements at the college in the final semester of their course, wherein they are provided full assistance in resume building, interview etiquettes, portfolio assessment, group discussions, and mock interviews to mention a few. For a field like fashion designing, classroom training is not enough. How do you tackle that?

“We do offer multiple training programs and field visits for our students”

We are providing various facilities to our students including internships, seminars, workshops, field visits, craft artisan oriented workshops, garment and textile expos, industry visits to factories, export houses, art galleries, handloom fairs, and youth summits to our students and all these practices ensures the best learning and growing opportunities for them. In recent years our students have participated in various national and international design competitions such as Gen Next by Lakme Fashion Week, Lexus Design Challenge by ADI, Young Blood Awards by Kyoorius Designs & Transparence and have achieved success. 


Which basic facilities are offered by your institute to students?

We believe in the true flair of the creative domain. To support our students in all their endeavors, we have set up a pattern-making lab, garment construction lab, makeup lab, draping lab, and textile lab. Apart from all this, we do have a spacious, well-ventilated, and fully air-conditioned studio for the makeup and interior design courses. The presence of the well-resourced library adds to our infrastructure. Classrooms with high-speed internet and projectors make sure our students can get the best out of every lecture.
