In the series of its flagship program, Multi-Dimensional Leadership Conclave (MDLC), DME Management School organized yet another intriguing panel discussion on ‘ Holistic Multidisciplinary Education: From School to Higher Education on 16 June 2022 in Studio 62, DME campus at 11 AM. The esteemed panelist for the event was, Ms. Indu Yadav, Principal Lotus Valley International School, Noida Extension, Ms. Vandana Seth, Principal Sanfort World School, Greater Noida, Prof. Dr. Rashmi Khorana Nagpal, Dean, DME law School and Prof. Dr.Poorva Ranjan, Head, DME Management School.

The moderators of the discussion were, Dr. Shalini Gautam and Ms. Shanu Jain, Faculty at DME Management School. The event commenced with the felicitation of the guests and opening remarks by the moderators. 

The first round of discussion focused on the dimensions on which the child's holistic development is identified namely, socio-emotional, cognitive, moral, and spiritual. 

Ms. Indu Yadav shared her thoughts on how crucial it is to have a social bonding with friends and family to ensure the overall growth of a student. She emphasized on ‘building relationships’, ‘adaptability & resilience’ as key tenets of socio-emotional development, and most importantly ‘Know Thy Self.

Dr. Poorva shared her thoughts on cognitive aspects and highlighted that the qualities of a leader/ manager are that the brain should endeavor in all situations and most of the teaching happens outside the classrooms as well. So we must observe and learn from everywhere.

Ms. Seth added, “If you want to be heard, build trust; a trustworthy human can conquer all battles”. We must stop comparing ourselves with others and make our ground rules and follow them. She added that the definition of success changes with time, however, we must make worthy choices. Youth can change the world, with great power, comes great responsibility as well.

Dr. Rashmi shared some beautiful anecdotes to highlight the importance of spirituality in education, distinguishing it lucidly from religion. She shared, “Technology can not replace the value that a teacher inculcates in a student and small life lessons, stay forever”.

In the second round of discussion, the panelist shared their thoughts on the implementation and policy-making aspects to ensure the implementation of holistic education systems across schools and colleges.

Ms. Yadav gave real-life examples of Tesla where not only engineers and technicians work, but also the psychologists and designers come together as a team. She reiterated, that life does not exist in silos and that we need to work in tandem in all spheres.

Further, Ms. Seth reflected on her thoughts that the industry is indeed getting ready for absorbing individuals with diverse and holistic personalities. The change is already underway and the future is this only.

Dr. Poorva added that we need to even strengthen our teaching community where some FDPs on life skills. Meditation sessions etc. can help prepare the liveware i.e. human workforce.

Dr. Nagpal concluded the session by stating that we must focus on ‘complete and not compete’ and also shared her thoughts on policy intervention by funding agencies to provide necessary resources to ensure the right infrastructure is available for institutions to reap the benefits of the NEP 2020. The big shift from ‘livelihood’ to ‘life’ is the need of the hour.

The Program Concluded with a Vote of Thanks given by the Speaker, Mrs. Shanu Jain .she acknowledged the tireless efforts made by the organizers for hosting an informative event and expressed her gratitude to all the speakers and guests for making time for the event.

Higher Education week will be providing students with relevant information and an opportunity to learn more about leading B- Schools Management Colleges offering students MBA/PGDM [postgraduate management degrees/diploma pursued in India]. It is an ideal platform for students and parents to explore the institution search and choose the Dream PG Institution for a bright future.

The week shall witness participation from institutions providing coaching for competitive exams as well as Private Universities and Top colleges. Speakers shall be delivering talks on topics wide variety of topics from careers after BBA, Personal Interviews for higher studies and recruitment and Benefits of MBA as a career option. Further colleges will be able to showcase how their institutions can help students to achieve their career goals. Students will also get a chance to interact with the institution’s representative directly for further details.

Institutions shall also be provided the opportunity to provide counseling to interested students and explain the admission process in their institutions along with sharing their brochures and other informational material.
