Dr. K.Vanitha is the HOD and Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics at Vishnu Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Narsapur. She holds a Ph.D. degree from JNTUH and has experience of 19 years in the teaching field. She has received various cash rewards for her commendable performance. She has published a total of 25 research papers, books and patents to her credit. She is also a Principal Investigator of various Government projects and as a UBA Coordinator she works for rural development.

Being the HOD & Professor, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“To motivate and ensure high standards of research, teaching and learning practice”

I actively assist the administration in ensuring good professional practice, standards, and quality of research, teaching and learning. I also assure the timely and adequate provision of textbooks, materials, and equipment required for effective academic activity. 


How does your department prepare students for higher education and placements?

“Acquire multiple skills and enhance the strategies for employability”

We train the students to enhance the strategies for employability through internships followed by placements. To strengthen the existing central placement team, we provide Campus recruitment training for students on a regular basis. Also, a mock interview facility is organized on a quarterly basis. 


What valuable advice would you like to give to the students for a prosperous career ahead?

“Diversified knowledge and good communication skills to expand knowledge”

Our team will encourage students to learn multiple skills in college and take the support of industry partners to expand their knowledge. Industries look for graduates with the ability to work in diversified fields. Updating on the latest technology beyond the regular curriculum helps them in grasping the job opportunities. Good communication skills and soft behavior make an impact in their professional & personal life. 


What are the interventions you bring in apart from the curriculum to teaching the students?

“We make an effort to bring hands-on training as a practical approach”

Our team will make efforts towards the students in making good human beings, soft-spoken and handle the problems in an actual and scientific manner using advanced tools and techniques. Hands-on training is another approach to produce skills, so they will compete and handle the problems effectively.

What are your views on introducing new programs to your curriculum?

“We have introduced enhanced professional programs to reach the career goals”

Following initiatives are taken on a large scale basis: 

  • Pharmacovigilance course in association with Telangana Academy for skill and knowledge (TASK)
  • Medical coding in association with MEDICON, Hyderabad
  • Certified course in collaboration with the chemical engineering department & biomedical engineering department, BVRIT, Narsapur.
  • In house GPAT training for UG students
  • Cultivation and production of Spirulina for the value-added product in terms of nutraceutical and pharmaceutical development towards societal benefits, entrepreneurship development 
  • Techniques in cell culture at center for molecular cancer research lab at VIPER, Narsapur.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

“Social service, entrepreneurship, industrial collaborations, and student activity clubs”

  • We have been selected under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), a program under the Govt of India. Under this program, our students and faculty work with rural villages in identifying development challenges for accelerating sustainable growth for a social cause.
  • We have started IPA student chapter Narsapur branch, through this branch our students connect globally to exchange their ideas and knowledge
  • Entrepreneurship development programs in association with ALEAP
  • Institution Innovation cell under MHRD, India to motivate the students to pursue innovation and start-up during their academics.
