Global Group of Institutes

Dr. Baldev Singh Chandi is the Chairman of the Global Group of Institutes. He is a pragmatic Agricultural scientist who believes in providing the students with the best educational, research and infrastructural facilities.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“I believe in the delegation of power to my teachers and other staff members with complete trust”

I believe in leading from the front and I am a strong votary of Participative and Transformational Management. I think an educational Institute can work best if you trust your teachers and give them the freedom to experiment with new ideas in classroom teaching. I know that a positive environment in the workplace can achieve great results even during difficult situations. My main area of responsibility in the college is to take care of the infrastructure and other facilities so that they remain in top working condition.

In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute/ university/ school?

“Our Prime Focus is on Quality at every Level”

This is true that all countries have their specific education systems that cater to their national needs. But in all the systems, there is a common core which is the backbone of education. We have already got NBA and NAAC certifications for our institutes which give us international quality benchmarks.

How does the curriculum of the Global Group of Institutes Amritsar ensure the best practice of industry?

“Provide practical hands-on training to our students “

The curriculum of various programs is decided at the university level. The university does allocate time for industry-institute interaction through compulsory industrial visits in every semester. The college takes good care that the students visit only reputed industries. We arrange Seminars and Workshops by eminent industry officials. The institute has also signed several MOUs with reputed industries in the region where students go for training. Our students have themselves designed and fabricated various prototypes of Formula one racing car, All-terrain Vehicle, Quadcopter, motion-sensing wheelchair, etc.

Any insights into how your Institute could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

“Welfare of All is our core principle”

Unity in diversity is a well-known principle based on the universal values of tolerance, cooperation, and goodwill for all, irrespective of caste, color, creed or economic background. Once they take admission and become the institute students, they are to be given equal opportunities in education, sports, and cultural activities. Already students from all parts of India, neighboring countries, and even from Africa are staying in harmony on the campus.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the GGI and the students are?

“Keeping an open-door policy between our students and the top management”

As Head of the Institute, my main role is to maintain the overall quality, recruit the best faculty members, motivate my team to give their best output, help them to work tension-free, provide the best facilities, work hard for good academic results & ultimately the placement of students. For the students, my role will be that of a doctor who brings relief with his kind words and meaningful actions to bridge the gap between them and the administration in case of any problems. I would make sure that the campus environment studies are conducive and healthy for all the stakeholders.

What do you think should be the Global Group of Institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“To be ready to adapt ourselves to new changes and stay relevant”

The world is changing so fast that anybody who doesn’t keep pace with the new developments is bound to suffer. The Internet is going to be the most important tool for education. We must be the best in it to do effective teaching-learning in the classroom as well online in the coming 10 years and beyond. We are planning for more autonomy and conversion to university.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for the Global Group of Institutes Specifically?

“Sustaining the qualitative developed program through trained manpower”

The problems can multiply in intensity if some crisis like Covid-19 comes up. With new WHO restrictions like social distancing, frequent hand washing, mask, and a ban on the assembly of large groups, the educational process went for a complete overhaul. The only way to face the challenges of the new age is to prepare yourself with new knowledge and new techniques to do your work efficiently. These are some of the new possible challenges in education in the new millennium.
