Dr. Anil Kumar Bansal is working as a HOD of Chemistry department at Agrawal PG College, Jaipur. He has completed B.Sc in Chemistry, Zoology and Botany and M.Sc in Chemistry. He has also done B.Ed and PhD. He has 17 years of teaching experience. He has presented 14+ papers in several national and regional conferences and seminars. He has also published 21 papers in various journals. His interests include Photography, Painting and Playing Badminton and Carom.

What is your vision for your department?

“Providing best environment for students to grow”

In my view our institute must have a vision that all staff members recognize as a common direction of growth, something that inspires them to be better. My vision is to develop well rounded, confident and responsible individuals who aspire to achieve their full potential. I keep on observing that the staff and students keep themselves updated with the latest trends and technologies.

How do you plan activities to enhance the skills of students?

“I keep organizing various extra-curricular activities for them”

Being a head of chemistry I am responsible for inspecting that all the best practices are followed by my department. I expect from my staff that they should make a plan to teach lessons in advance and organize any practical equipment so students can enjoy chemistry. I give my best to organize different activities like workshops, seminars, quiz competitions, industrial visit and other programs to enhance the skill of my students.

How does your Department ensure best practices of the industry are being followed?

“By taking suggestions from industry experts and updating our faculties”

Our department ensures continuous improvement in their performance as per the requirements and norms of the industries. College has set up an Industry Advisory Board with an objective to establish strong industry connections, where we conduct guest lectures, workshops, seminars which helps us to update our curriculum. We also visit industries on a regular basis to receive suggestions on what exactly they expect us to deliver to students to make them ready to face real time challenges.

Which approach is followed to make subjects more practical and industry oriented?

“We keep on conducting more experiments and industry visit”

Learning outside of the classroom is an active process, wherein students encounter authentic problems, construct novel hypotheses, test for real solutions, and interact with others to make sense of the world around them. We use different types of models, titrations by which students get proper exposure to practical learning.

What are your roles and responsibilities?

“To bring best business value to college and education to students”

My role and responsibilities are to guide and direct the individuals in an appropriate manner towards the implementation of their tasks and functions, provide solutions to various types of problems and challenges, make effective decisions and create eco-friendly environmental conditions, which would facilitate the achievement of students. 

What is the future scope for students of the Chemistry Department? 

“Public and private industries are always open for opportunities”

The employment areas for the B.Sc and M.Sc students of chemistry include pharmaceutical industries, chemical manufacturers, forensic science department, plastic industries, agrochemical industries, etc. Apart from these, they are also recruited in other fields such as oil, gas and power sectors and even in defense services. 

How do you make the college environment healthy for your students?

“By solving their problems through my guidance”

This integration of strategies in the learning/teaching approach counteract the negative and help students in getting out of the negative spiral. When a learner feels appreciated, accepted and see him/her as an important and contributing part of a learning environment only then he/she can improve, learn with an open mind, accept and appreciate viewpoints and solve problems earnestly. 

Which major challenges have you faced in your professional career?

“To keep myself updated and manage our life with salary we get”

In the present era, with the advent of new methodologies in teaching and the way digital and smart learning has made inroads into the field of education, the role of teachers has also greatly evolved over a period of time. Today, a teacher faces various arduous tasks of keeping him/herself abreast with the latest inventions and strides in the field of education, science, art, etc.

What are the major priorities of your department for the next few years?

“To increase placement statistics of our college and make our students future ready”

The Major focus for our department for the upcoming years are:

  • Provide an outstanding graduate experience in the chemical sciences. 
  • Improve and increase participation in opportunities for study abroad. 
  • Maintain a placement cell for the job opportunities for the students. 
  • Regular industrial visit for the students. 
  • Regular organization of workshops and seminars for enhancing the skill of students. 

Any suggestions would you like to give to the youth regarding their higher studies?

“Be patient and keep on learning”

There may be options that allow students to specialize in a certain field that they find particularly interesting, whether biochemistry, geochemistry, environmental chemistry or sustainability. Some courses also include options like industrial management, in which students can learn about the applications of chemistry in industry from a business perspective.
