Dr. Prof. Anil Disale is the HOD at Vidya Pratishthan's Kamalnayan Bajaj Institute of Engineering and Technology. He believes in building risk taking abilities in the students and a cross-dimensional approach to help them explore various verticals. Read here what he has to say in his interview.

What are your thoughts on the current education system? 

“There is a required shift towards developing a student-centric system”

The current higher education system followed in Self-financed Institutes affiliated to universities is not flexible and students centred. Neither is it addressing student’s holistic development to make them future-ready. The higher education system is ready to take a giant leap towards achieving excellence par with global standards and with the implementation of National Education Policy. The critical issues in NEP 2020 brought into focus are cognition, innovation, and multidisciplinary approach. VPKBIET already has brought these initiatives into practice so that students will be ready for life outside the confines of the Institute. The continuous improvement of all stakeholders has done it.

Could you please highlight the functioning aspects of your college? 

“We have a holistic approach to help and guide our students”

We majorly focus on developing a holistic approach towards our students. Thus we follow the below aspects: 

  1. Improvise the skills of upcoming engineering students.
  2. Developing a student centric environment.
  3. Institute has its organizational structure in place catering needs of students.

What are some of the future goals of your college? 

“We are on our way to achieve excellence”

Institute has NAAC A grade and Departments are prepared to achieve NBA accreditation. Whereas Institute aims towards autonomy so that it can exercise flexibility in the education system along with imparting start of the art knowledge so that students will be leaders in Industries. Institute has initiated centres of excellence and technology outreach programs so that it will serve as a technology development hub in the near future.

What will be your advice to the students who are pursuing their under-graduation and post-graduation?

“Gone are the days when only memory-based solutions are appreciated”

Students are motivated to take the challenges of higher cognitive levels and work hard to achieve the skills to overcome those. These students will not be just job-seeking but will be entrepreneurs. Postgraduate students are the pillars of a research-driven ecosystem. Impactful research is the need of the growing Indian economy. So Postgraduate students should take focused efforts in their research to make it applicable to fundamental and societal problems to bring paradigm shifts.
