“The ICFAI University is an ornament of Tripura and has been taking an active part in nation building by producing quality professionals. It truly complies with all statutory requirements unlike some leading private Universities of the Country” complimented the Hon’ble Governor Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki while addressing the Convocation Ceremony of the ICFAI University, Tripura held at Kamalghat Campus on September 21, 2018.

The Governor further said, “Some of the leading private Universities have virtually established a dynasty. These Universities never change either Vice Chancellor or the Chancellor for years together. If the incumbent VC or Chancellor dies, another family member takes over. This trend has to be stopped.”

He put on record that ICFAI University Tripura nominates a personality of national repute as VC or Chancellor after their term expires and pointed out, ICFAI Society of Hyderabad had recently nominated Prof. V N Rajasekharan Pillai as the Chancellor of ICFAI University Tripura. He termed Prof. Pillai as great Chemist and renowned educationist who possesses international fame.

The Governor hoped that ICFAI University Tripura would soon emerge out as a leading higher educational institution in the Country and advised the students to become good human beings in extracting good knowledge. Education without good character and attitude is meaningless, the Governor remarked.

The Revenue and Fisheries Minister of Tripura Mr. Narendra Chandra Debbarma, who graced the Convocation ceremony as Special Guest, also praised the nomination of Prof. V N Rajasekharan Pillai as Chancellor of ICFAI University Tripura and said, “the University would reach to a new height under the apt leadership of Prof. Pillai.” The minister also said that the State Government would explore the avenues to utilize the expertise of Prof. Pillai and extend all possible support to the all-round growth of the University.

In his convocation address, Chancellor Prof. Pillai reiterated University’s commitment to the all-round development of Tripura and assured to further improve the learning, teaching and research standard of the University. He urged the students to be more attentive and acquire education through life experience throughout life. The Chancellor pointed out that education provides life skill.

Prof. V N Rajasekharan Pillai has recently taken over as Chancellor of ICFAI University, Tripura. He is former Chairman of University Grants Commission and had held top positions in National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), IGNOU, Distance Education Council. He also served as Principal Secretary to Science, Technology and Environment department in Kerala. Prof. Biplab Halder, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University presented a report on present activities and future plan.

Altogether, 330 pass out students were conferred degree certificates out of which 22 were awarded gold medals for their excellent academic performance in different disciplines.
