Prof Dr. Sunny Arora has been working as the Director of Admission at Guru Kashi University, Bathinda, Punjab. He has done M. Tech in IT and Ph.D. as part of his education and has an amazing 16 years of experience in the teaching sector. Which latest programs are being offered by your college to help students stand apart from the crowd?

We are offering industry-oriented Degree, Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses to students and also provide them with internships and value based programs to enhance their skills and help them stand apart from the crowd. Apart from this, we offer them additional industry patterned programs so that they can be ready to work in a corporate world after finishing their respective courses from our college.

What will you say are the best practices of the courses that your institute is offering to students?

We focus on the holistic development of our students by inculcating best skills, ethical values in them and making them socially responsible citizens. And we also strive to stay in sync with international study patterns and standards and have given flexibility to students to do part time jobs along with studies. Last but not the least, we offer 100% placement assurance and assistance to all students.

How do you build a strong connection between your institute courses and industry demands?

Our college regularly organizes industrial visits to get inputs and suggestions from industry experts and leaders about their requirements, latest developments and struggle. And accordingly we implement their suggestions in our programs to bridge the gaps between academia and industry and inculcate best skills in students to make them ready for the corporate world.

Being the Admission Director, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

For our institute, our students are our real stakeholders and we are working day and night for their personal and professional betterment and growth. I also take students' inputs and feedback on a regular basis to make sure I provide them with the best possible learning opportunities and training programs. Because I am committed to provide an employable friendly environment to all my students.

What biggest challenges do you see for the higher education sector and institutions in general?

I firmly believe that the biggest challenge in front of higher education institutions is to provide world class education to students at an affordable cost, improve research and development opportunities and quality and increase collaboration with reputed industries for ensuring better employability opportunities for students.

Hence, the higher education system should be redrafted as per present scenario and we as an institution have acknowledged the ray of hope in the New National Education Policy which has recently been introduced by the government.

How do you strategize the key plans and programs for the marketing of your institute?

As we all know that we are living in a society, where right marketing is very crucial for a brand to reach its potential customers and leave an everlasting impression on them. And the only way to survive in this cut-throat competitive world is to prioritize your programmes. After this, one needs to depute the right team to do the right job as per their skills. An institute can use a wide variety of digital media, tools and techniques to let people know about their programs and facilities and social media is the best tool in today's time to reach more people. And we also follow the same process in our college and quality is more important for us as compared to quantity.

Any suggestions which you would like to give to the current youth and aspiring students?

I would like to advise my dear students to keep working hard to achieve their dreams as I firmly believe that every student has the capability to outshine others irrespective of their circumstances. And it is a privilege in today's time if you are getting an education and opportunities to make your parents proud because many students are deprived of this basic human right. Last but not the least, take good care of yourself and stay dedicated and disciplined towards your life goals.
