Dr. N. Raman is the Principal at Kongu Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Erode. He has experience of 32 years in the academic field. He has produced a total of 12 PhDs and 25 M.Phil Scholars. He is a Life Member at the Indian Academy of Social Sciences, Allahabad.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

"I am always passionate about teaching and learning" 

The Educational Sector is the only place which provides a link with the young minds every day, as a result, we feel young and energetic. Being the Head, It’s my pleasure that I have the opportunity to play an effective role in grooming the student community of Kongu Arts and Science College, Erode.

How would you describe your leadership style?

"I follow a participative leadership style"

In all circumstances, I work along with my fellow mates and be a continuous learner to take our Institutions to reach the height of excellence of Institution. My leadership style involves the policy of identifying suitable and talented faculty members for the set task and directing the team with a clear vision. I believe in cultivating a climate of integrity with empathy at the workplace which derives voluntary involvement of my team members.

How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated to make it befitting for the students? 

"Our curriculum focuses on value education through Environmental Studies and Human Rights courses"

Our College got Autonomy in the year 2015 with a choice-based credit system in our Curriculum. Students are provided with elective courses and they are provided the freedom to choose courses based on their needs. The inputs from various stakeholders like Alumni, Industrial Experts, Parents and Employers are given due consideration while framing and updating the syllabus. Advanced courses like Python programming, Industry 4.0 have been included in our curriculum to fill the gap between college studies and the corporate climate.

How does your college prepare students for placements?

"Our college pays more attention in fetching suitable placements for our students"

We provide Campus to Corporate Training and Finishing School Programme. We have created MoUs with reputed companies like INFOSYS, TCS and ICT academy. We have incorporated a part of the syllabus in Value Added Courses, the Course materials which we have received through MoUs especially for this purpose. It has been successfully executed for the past 6 years apart from the periodic placement programs that are conducted for the benefit of the students in addition to Mentor grooming programmes and Campus interviews. Special programme “Training by the Trained” is given by the Alumni who are already placed. 

When you came to college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same? 

"My dream is to upgrade our College as No.1 in this Region"

My vision is to further increase the student strength of our College, uplift the college with Autonomous status and bring added glory by achieving quality enhancement like getting revised ISO status which is a pioneering effort in this region.

What valuable advice would you like to give the students for a prosperous career ahead? 

"Students should value the values of the Human beings and should never stop learning"

“Sound Mind in a Sound Body” this is the maxim I would like to stick on to in guiding my students because learners must grow holistically in all spheres of their life. They should take proper care of their mind and physical health. They should equip themselves to be fit for all occasions. They should know how to properly make use of the resources around them.
