What keeps you connected with the education sector?

“Continuous growth via teaching and research”

Constant learning and having the environment to upskill for the current trends are the major perks one can have in the education field. Teaching and research are my passions. As an educator, I don’t just teach students, I also have to keep upskilling and learning the current trends, which keeps me on-going.

What are your roles and responsibilities as HOD-Civil Engineering?

“Academic coordination and student counselling”

I collect the lesson plans from the teaching staff before the commencement of classwork and ensure that the information provided is in accordance with the prescribed format. Also, I allocate the subjects to the faculty members well in advance before the commencement of the semester/year. I interact with students year-wise, identify the problems and find solutions in consultation with the management. Also, counselling the students and guiding them towards a professional life are my responsibilities.

How does the curriculum of SAIT ensure the students are being prepared for the future?

“Practical learning with updated methods and tools”

The college follows an outcome-based education by developing course plans with objectives and outcomes. The learning styles of the students are evaluated through a learning style test. Though the college is affiliated with RGPV, curriculum gaps are plugged through design-based experiments, additional labs other than the curriculum and evaluated systematically through different assessment tools. Practical sessions with students focused on skill development are organized on a regular basis. The institute connects with the alumni and utilizes their services, like Guest Lectures, internship opportunities, placements, etc. Regular training is imparted in the area of communication skills and aptitude to the students to make them employable.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects?

“In-house training and varied practices for skill enhancement”

The most important factor for a practical and industry-oriented approach in engineering courses is that it builds a foundation that helps students in after-college life. Internships play an important role in building this thought. We conduct regular Theory and Practical sessions as well as expert sessions to cover the updated current applications and industry topics. In-house Summer Training Programs, Finishing School and Student Induction Program on Universal Human Values and Industry Experts Lectures are the key practices. Frequent use of activity-based learning, through projects, presentations, quizzes, case study and industry visits are the key to features. The institute has encouraged students to pursue internships during vacations and acquire necessary problem-solving skills.
