Prof. (Dr.)Tarini Charan Tripathy is presently serving as the Principal at Roland Institute of Technology-RIT, Orissa. With several years of experience in the field, he is a philosopher, leader and academic administrator working towards betterment of education in the country. Also, he has conducted a number of workshops and conferences during his lifelong career as an educationist.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Making a great nation with great humans”

I firmly believe education is the first and most important sector in any economy and is one of the pillars of human development and human as a resource. It can be best reformed to do anything in anyone’s life, to progress or conquer his/her dreams. So being a leader in the education sector and helping students to follow the right directions and paths is what keeps me connected. I wish to bring changes in the lives of people of different communities by providing better assistance and good education. 

What is your philosophy of leadership?

“Participation and satisfaction of members”

A leader must be able to put forward responsive and leading approaches for maximum involvement of team members and their interests. I try to create an atmosphere of potential learning and growth for each individual in the family, so as they are satisfied internally. I take into consideration to discipline the students and representatives in my summary advisory board and show to the management my vision.

How does the curriculum of your Institute ensure the best practice of industry? 

“Large institutional integrations and industrial training”

Industrial visits and industrial tours are conducted regularly so that the students have good exposure to the real practical world. There are internship and project work opportunities given under reputed authorities like NLACO and BSNL. We have also been involved with IIT Kharagpur and IIT Bombay for open source and provide training to faculty to deliver the education with best means. There is a technical meet conducted every year where students present research papers and develop skills. In addition, we are regularly conducting several co-curricular activities like the quiz, NSS work, debates and placement training. 

What do you think should be the Institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“Quality education and technological upgradation”

In these highly competitive scenarios, in the coming 10 years, we plan to excel in the education system and be a top institution globally, with the support of the university and the state government and central government. We are also trying to accommodate students with lesser facilities and opportunities by helping them with financial assistance and open learning platforms. We are constantly getting updated with technology and experienced faculties from varied disciplines who can teach students with utmost knowledge and advancements. We are also looking forward to establishing in-house training centres for faculty and students. 

How do you tend to establish healthy relations in your institute?

“Better communication and keen observations”

Regularly interacting and connecting with students and faculty is a key to establishing healthy relationships within the institution. Each of our teachers plan and coordinate with students in a well-behaved and responsive manner to resolve their issues – academically and personally. I, myself, immediately address any issue within a day, within the limits of my power and students approach me without any hesitation. I also physically verify every department once in a week to closely observe the functioning, taking feedbacks and suggesting solutions for the same. This enables us to create a healthy environment within the organization and workplace.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the aspiring students?

“Never lose hope and elevate your skills”

I want to tell the students to be hopeful and not to lose faith in harsh circumstances of life. We have to keep faith in our belief, self-confidence and self-trust. Whatever the things are there we have to get ahead of, utilize the present to the optimum and enhance your skills to the maximum.
