Dr. S. Suresh Babu is the Principal of Rajadhani Institute of Engineering and Technology Trivandrum, Kerala. He has received his B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, M.Tech in Computer Science & Technology, and Ph.D. in IT-enabled services. He has more than 23 publications in various peer-reviewed journals of

international repute to his credit. He has been a member of the Board of Studies (PG) and Faculty of Engineering at prestigious engineering Universities in the region. He has served as a Member of the Expert Team Visit Committee of AICTE, New Delhi, and a Member of the Standing Applet Committee (SAC) of AICTE several times.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Adaptability and a quest to become a life-long learner has been my motivation”

I have served as principal to several renowned institutions in my career. I could adapt to the academic environment that kept me associated with the education sector. Also, being an integral part of this sector pushes me towards being a critical thinker and bringing educational reforms.


What is your philosophy of leadership?

“To enable deserving people with sufficient resources and help in their journey”

I believe in handpicking suitable people and entrusting them with responsibilities. As a leader, I ensure that everyone’s opinions and suggestions are taken into consideration while decision making. Being a patient listener and adviser helps in leadership roles.


What are your thoughts on inclusivity for students of different backgrounds?

The motto that our Institute follows is ‘One caste, One religion, One God’”

What are some of the biggest challenges you see for higher education?

“Quality education and students willingness towards learning”

The biggest challenge for higher education is the quality and commitment of the student community. The students should be focused and interested during their academic years. Other challenges include a lack of resources and infrastructure in the educational domain.


Any suggestions you would like to give to the aspiring students?

I would suggest the future generation to contribute more to nation-building”

I have always believed that the students of the country should give back to their nation. It should be every youngster’s moral obligation to elevate the backward section of society. Making use of their knowledge and education, they must work for social causes and the greater good.


What are some plans that you’re currently designing for RIET’s international affairs?

“International collaborations with educational institutes worldwide”

At Rajadhani Institute of Engineering and Technology, we are in the process of continuous development of global standards. We have recently initiated International Collaboration with Lincoln University and Putra University. This will provide our students with international exposure and make them globally compatible.

How do you tend to establish a healthy environment in your institute?

“Student-centric policies and management systems are enabled in campus”

At our Institute, we have adopted a mix of scientific and psychological management concepts to suit the environment. These help us bring out the best behaviour of both students and faculties. Understanding the unified goal of comprehensive education is important for peace.
