Dr. K. Ravindra has been working as the Principal of Malla Reddy Institute of Technology and Science, Hyderabad, Telangana. He has done B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Andhra University, M.E. with Honors from University of Roorkee and PhD in the field of Mobile Communications from Osmania University. He has also received a Gold Medal from Roorkee University for securing first position in Masters Degree. He has a rich experience of 26 years in Teaching field and throughout these years, he has worked in various capacities. In addition to this, he has also worked as a Senior Scientist in the Research and Training Unit for Navigational Electronics at Osmania University for 2 years from 2000-2002. He has published 36 technical papers in various International, National Journals and Conferences and has co-authored 2 technical reports in the field of GPS. He is the key resource person for video lectures produced by SONET, Andhra Pradesh and broadcasted by MANA TV in Ku band for all Engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh. Also, he is a visiting professor of ISTE, India and Life Member of ISTE, IETE and SEMCE (I). Throughout his professional career, he has delivered lectures on the topics related to Electronics and Communication Technology in several refresher courses organized by various organizations. And he is presently guiding a few research scholars in the fields of Mobile Communications, Cellular and Next Generation Networks and Wireless Sensor Networks etc.

Which latest program are you offering in your institute to help students stand apart from the crowd?

In my opinion, students while and after gaining practical exposure in our latest CSE courses can settle themselves in diverse fields of technology. Also nowadays we regularly hear about different kinds of cyber crimes round the clock due to which people are facing different kinds of challenges in their daily life, so person having vast knowledge in the field of Cyber Security will be needed to develop solutions for all such threats and fix these crimes which will ultimately increase job opportunities for Graduates. Along with this, Robotics Technology has penetrated into various fields including medicine and hospitality etc. and Data Science has become a tool in our daily life be it ordering any items or doing transactions. So career opportunities associated with each course makes them worth pursuing for students.

What would you say are the best practices of the latest courses your institute is offering to students?

"Our education quality, teaching methodologies and projects we assign to students makes each course unique"

All the students will be given hands-on experience in the laboratories on an individual basis and we are using advanced ICT tools and modern teaching methodologies including interactive board based teaching in MRITS to deliver lectures to students. In addition to this, we regularly encourage our students to look for suitable internships where they can effectively utilize their skills and knowledge and build some amazing in-house projects as well.

What are the valuable insights of the programs that you are offering at your institute?

"Students will be taught about latest tools, software under each course and we have established research facilities"

We will be educating our students on cutting edge technologies, tools, and software which are evolving globally and also they must be aware about while pursuing the B. Tech (CSE) courses from our institute. And for the same, relevant infrastructure has been set up by us and laboratories are also open for extended times so that students can conduct experiments and practice accordingly. Also, after students successfully finish these programs, the scope is very vast for them to serve the society.

How do the courses of your college ensure the future preparedness of students?

"These CSE courses are suggested by the AICTE in view of the demands of industrial world"

The newly introduced CSE courses which we are offering to our students have been suggested by the AICTE itself after analysis of corporate sector developments and demands and taking inputs from technocrats. And professionals with skills in AI/ML and DS are highly in demand outside the competitive world. So for sure, our courses are highly essential for our students. 

How do you upskill your faculties to deliver the new courses to students in the best possible way?

"They are trained and upskilled through FDPs and online mode of learning like NPTEL videos"

We organize Faculty Development Programs on a regular basis in collaboration with industry experts to upskill the faculty members of our college in accordance with industry standards and course demands. In addition to this, our faculties attend FDPs arranged by other institutions as well to stay updated. And they also take help from online learning platforms like NPTEL video lectures and international courses to educate themselves about the latest technologies and tools being used in the industrial world so that they can deliver the best content to our students.

How do you frame a strong association between your institute courses and the industrial world?

"We have done partnership with esteemed organizations and regularly organize expert lectures"

We are collaborating with numerous reputed industries and especially with those who are doing consultancy projects on the global platforms. In addition to these, we organize guest lectures and expert sessions in association with industry people and we have designed a special subject too with contents related to these newly introduced courses of AI, ML, Data Science and Cyber Security for making the students industry ready.

What challenges came up your way while inculcating these new programs in your curriculum?

"Inculcating future requirements of industries in curriculum was a real struggle for us"

I firmly believe that while we were designing the curriculum of our college, forecasting and including the future requirements of the corporate sector in the curriculum was a real challenge for us. And to fix this issue, we have established the Board of Studies Committee which consist of industry experts and eminent academicians who can guide and suggest to us what needs to be included and what should be removed from courses curriculum from time to time as and when industry requirements get changed.

On what types of projects your students are currently working on under the CSE courses?

"Our students are developing amazing projects in the field of Banking, Healthcare and Agriculture"

Our students are presently working on multifaceted and a wide variety of amazing projects and if I specifically talk about the domains they are involved in, it includes every discipline ranging from Banking, Digital Currency, to HealthCare and Farming etc.

What career options would be available for students after pursuing CSE courses in AI/ML or DS from your college?

From my experience and observation, I can confirm that securing a good job in an MNC would be very easy for students after successfully completing B. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering with AI, Machine Learning, Data Science or Cyber Security like courses. And they can work as a Data Analytics, AI Engineer, ML Engineer, Business Intelligence Developer, Big Data Engineer, Research Scientist, Software Engineer, Cybersecurity Analyst, Cybersecurity Architect, Security Auditor or as a Network Administrator etc. Otherwise, they can also aim for higher education either in India or abroad. In any case, the settlement is certain.
