AKTU (Abdul Kalam Technical University) is all set to conduct its final semester examinations from September 1, 2020. The examinations will be held across 200 centres only due to pandemic cases prevailing in the country.

Out of these, only 25 exam centres will be reserved for emergencies of AKTU students. In such a situation, not all the candidates will get the benefit of self-examination centres. Instead, they would have to travel long distances of around 200-300 kilometres to reach the examination centre on time.

As per the recent guidelines of UGC and government as well, the university administrators took an initiative to provide the benefits of self-exam centres. In view of which the exam centres were divided into various categories like A, B and C.

Around 60,000 candidates are to appear for the examination. In category A, there will be around 50-60 centres. Such gradations are awarded based on the facilities available at the centre.
While B and C categories comprise more number of centres and the number of the candidates and the number of invigilators will also be appointed accordingly.
AKTU drops MCQ Test plans to issue model questions
At the same time, some of the candidates are demanding for the model test papers. Moreover, the lack of proper public transport, it has been quite impossible to travel from one place to another in short while. No domestic or international flights are running nowadays due to the long term pandemic prevailing across the country.
In the context of this, AKTU has planned to take MCQ exams and set the duration of the exam in that way. But some of the candidates refused to accept the proposal. Therefore, the university has planned to issue model test papers for the preparation of the candidates easily.
Prof. Rajeev Kumar, Controller of the Examination, in his statement notified that the date sheet of the examination will be released as soon as possible. All these efforts were being made to allow the examination centres nearby to the candidates so that they would have to travel less and reach there on time.
