AIIMS Bilaspur Likely to be Inaugurated by June 2022, More Than 80% Work Completed; Check Details Here

New Delhi: AIIMS Bilaspur is likely to be finished by June this year. With the state's healthcare facilities, particularly super-speciality services, seriously lacking, the completion of AIIMS in Bilaspur would be a benefit to the people.

At AIIMS, a total of Rs 960.38 crores has been spent on building world-class medical facilities till now. The project's total cost is anticipated to be Rs 1351 crore.

The hospital would include 750 beds, as well as a trauma centre and a medical college with a capacity of 100 MBBS students. There will also be a nursing college with 60 B.Sc (Nursing) seats. Apart from multiple buildings housing the various colleges, there will be 15 operation theatres (OT), 20 speciality/super-speciality, and a 30-bed of Ayush Department.

Despite the fact that the OPD services at AIIMS were declared operational on December 5, last year, the institute is expected to be finished by June of this year. Approximately 86% of the work has already been done. The Himachal Government is eager to complete it as soon as possible being an election year.

The Union Cabinet sanctioned it in January 2018, when JP Nadda was the Union Minister for Health before becoming the BJP's national chairman.

The ruling BJP is trying to win votes, particularly in Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Una, Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi, by completing the massive health facility in the state by the conclusion of this year's Assembly elections.

The institute, which will be directly under the control of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Affairs, will provide all super-speciality services such as nephrology, gastroenterology, hepatology, and pulmonary medicine, among others, for which the residents of the state currently have to travel to Chandigarh and Delhi.

With the presence of private sector hospitals, particularly big chains, being nearly non-existent in Himachal, the establishment of AIIMS will be a boon to the people.

Despite the fact that the AIIMS is yet to be completely operational, 136 surgeries have been done and 11,010 patients have been treated in the OPD in almost two and a half months since February 18.
